Well, just as I thought. Halloween parties were a great success. Heather Patterson-Thien did an excellent job of

getting everyone together to run the booths, etc. for the kids party. The kids seemed to have a ball, and so did those of

us running games, etc. Thanks for all the donations, which really helped to keep the cost down. Also, the adults party

saw lots of good costumes and some great music, courtesy of our own Eric Leishman. Soup dinner was excellent and

Mary Hisaw coordinated things in fine fashion.

The Men’s anniversary dinner on the 16th was labeled a great success. I want to thank Cindy Gassaway for the

glazed carrots and AJ O’Malley for the potatoes and then Janice (I am really sorry I don’t know your last name) for the

incredible desserts she has been providing……not just at the anniversary dinner but also on a number of Thursday

nights……The Carmel Apple Cheese cake bars were way over the top! There were a number of women who came and

helped serve & clean up and then we got to do some dancin’ afterwards to the sounds of Movin’ On. A great evening.

On Sunday the 18th the Jam Session was a good one. We do not have one scheduled for December, but it will be

back on Sunday, January 6th at Noon. Bring some goodies to munch on and bring your musical ear and come relax and

enjoy. We have lots of raffles going on also.

Don’t forget our Country Store is open as of December 1st, so if you are looking for anything of a “Country” na-

ture, homemade foods, jams, some very lightly used small items, etc. please check it out. Also, December 1st Tehachapi

Moose & the Sentinels Motorcycle Club are host the Tehachapi Valley Toy Run, which will be finishing up at the Lodge

with food & music and then we have the annual Christmas Parade at 5:30. Because of all this activity, there is NO

SOUTH OF THE BORDER NIGHT in December, but it will be back on January 5th. You will also notice on the calendar

on December 16th our Annual Holiday Meal for those less fortunate. ALL HANDS ARE NEEDED FOR THIS. We want

to serve a great meal and provide some of the people in town with a little bit of holiday. The Women will be putting to-

gether stockings for the children in attendance and any donations towards this project, or dinner, would be GREATLY

APPRECIATED. The kids Christmas Party will be Saturday, December 22nd. There will be a sign-up/gift tree in the

Social Quarters after the first. The party will be open to all members and their kids. Again, we cannot support all the

neighborhood kids, so bring just your kids, grandkids, etc. DEADLINE TO SIGN UP WILL BE DECEMBER 16TH.

That is a firm date because we must have time to get the letters off to Santa and get the appropriate Christmas gifts

ordered. Also, plan on spending New Years Eve with us. We will have pot luck munchies, music, etc. and then on New

Years Day we will be serving a buffet breakfast for $8. And I have also been hearing “Rumors” about a Black Tie Glitzy

Dinner. The dinner is scheduled for Saturday, January 12th and tickets will be pre-sale only. See the Governor, Jesse

Lilly for information. Hope you have a great holiday season and I look forward to seeing all of you around the Lodge

during this time.

See you next time,

Anne Crawshaw, Senior Regent

Claudia Henson and Sam White are tying the knot on 12-12-12 and invite all their Moose Lodge friends to

join them at their Wedding Reception being held at the Lodge on that date (Wed) from 5 PM to 10 PM.

CONGRATULATIONS!!

A special thank you to Gene Prel and Grimmway Farms for the donation of the carrots for the Men’s Anniversary Dinner on 11-16..

The dinner was delicious thanks to the hard work of Annie who, cooked that delicious roast brisket, and Cindy who not only made

the glazed carrots but was the dishwasher extraordinaire, not to mention the many volunteers who worked together to make it hap-

pen.

Hi everybody,

A big thanks to all the volunteers who work inside

the Lodge throughout the entire month, keeping the kitchen

clean and taking care of the Lodge’s general upkeep. Without

them, the Lodge would indeed be a very messy place.

The past month finances have been a little bit better

than the previous months, but we still have a long way to go.

More activities and fundraisers are needed to raise money to

pay for the taxes and Lodge expenses. The bar cannot

support the Lodge by itself.

In December, will we are hosting a Dinner for the

Less Fortunate in town on Sunday, Dec. 16th from 4-7 PM .

We need donations of food and people willing to cook and

serve. If you're can help in any way, please sign-up.

The New Year's Eve party is still in the planning

stages. The band Movin’On will be playing to bring in the

New Year. So come on down and enjoy the music and

festivities.

The Moose Lodge is hosting in the Tehachapi Toy

Run this year. There will be prizes and raffles for all of us

to enjoy. Also a Poker Run will take place, both on

December 1st .

I wish you all a very Happy Holiday Season and look

forward to seeing you all in the next year.

Fraternally yours.

John Hughes, Administrator

DECEMBER 2012 AND JANUARY 2013 Page 10 Mountain Moose Call

Here we are in the third quarter of the Moose year

and the Herd is charging onward. But, before we get into

that, let’s review last quarter. We met our normal

quarterly financial obligations to the Youth Awareness,

Special Olympics and Safe Surfin’ Programs and our yearly

commitment to the Tommy Moose Program through our

donations to Moose Charities. Our Mountain Festival

Badge sales proceeds went to the High School Boosters

Club to support the athletics program and, of course, the

remainder went to the Chamber of Commerce for use in

their local program.

Additionally, we made a donation to the Tehachapi

Mountain Foundation Inc. to help with their Seminar on

preservation of the Local Native American Langrage and

Basket Weaving Technics. We also continued to provide

meeting space on a weekly, monthly, and occasional basis

for a number of local non-profit group meetings, and a Cook

crew for the Annual Hospital District Health Faire.

Where next? Well as I told you in last month’s

article, the Holiday food basket collection barrel is in the

lobby awaiting you donation, the Turkey and Ham Roll is

rolling along, as are the plans for a local Toy and Poker

Run, which you can be done on foot, bike, motorcycle, other

type vehicle, or sitting in your normal chair at the Moose

Family Center. Proceeds will be used to provide toys for

families in need, a Christmas dinner for those in need at

the Family Center, donations to the Greater Tehachapi

Christmas Basket Program and, if there is enough

donated, to help replenish local food banks in January. We

plan to leave the food donation barrel out till sometime in

January to help accomplish this goal. Want to get

involved? Want to help? See Governor Jesse, Senior

Regent Anne or your FRENDLY Club Steward.

We want to thank everyone for their donations to

the Endowment fund at meetings, social events, and

Thursday evening dinners during the Nine O’clock

Ceremony and a Special THANKS to those who purchased

a “CRADLE” during the special October Endowment Fund

drive and get ready for the February “ROCKING CHAIR”

campaign. REMEMBER; “It’s all about the Kids and

Senior’s”!!!

As this is the last newsletter of the year Me and

Mine wish You and Yours a VERY, VERY MERRY

CHRISTMAS, a HAPPY PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR, and

may the Supreme being bless and keep us all.

AROUND THE LODGE

Fraternally, Bob Bakman,

Community Service Chairman

From the Legion President #176

This is a good time of the year to say THANK YOU !! Thank you for such a great year of having fun and yet achiev-

ing all our goals. Our Legion is 1st in Cal/ Nev and 8th Nation wide! This could not have been done without

your support at legion meetings, going on bus trips and having fun at our picnic.

Have a Wonderful Holiday season, but keep in mind that we will be celebrating the 100th year anniversary of the

founding of Moose International. I urge all members to continue doing all you do so that our organization can keep

on thriving. Next month I will be giving a breakdown of where all Legion monies that have been spent.

Join us in the new year .
