TRANSCRIPT
Heaven Is for Real is the true story of the four-year old son of a small town Nebraska pastor who
during emergency surgery slips from consciousness and
enters heaven. He survives and begins talking about
being able to look down and see the doctor operating
and his dad praying in the waiting room. The family
didn't know what to believe but soon the evidence was
clear.
Colton said he met his miscarried sister, whom no one
had told him about, and his great grandfather who died
30 years before Colton was born, then shared
impossible-to-know details about each. He describes
the horse that only Jesus could ride, about how "really,
really big" God and his chair are, and how the Holy
Spirit "shoots down power" from heaven to help us.
Told by the father, but often in Colton's own words,
the disarmingly simple message is heaven is a real place,
Jesus really loves children, and be ready, there is a
coming last battle.
Sister Erica Smith-Ingram led our book discussion again
this month. Sister Gwen Ford shared information on Akiane Kramarik and her photos.

Sisters On The Horizon
Apologies are needed for the omission of Sister Pattie Ransome in our last issue. She celebrated
her birthday in October …. October 13th to be exact. Sister Pattie is affectionately known as
Dozie or Aunt Dozie to many of us. She is a great mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
When asked how she could be described? We heard “funny” over and over again. Aunt Dozie,
we wish you a happy belated birthday!!
We also omitted Sister Erica Smith-Ingram for our November newsletter. She celebrated her
birthday on November 24th. Sister Erica is a true woman of God who has the ability to teach the
word like no other. She brings the word to life and assist others in seeing how it applies to them
personally. We all agree that this ministry would not be the same without her.
Sister Peggy Staton— Happy Belated Birthday!!!! Sister Peggy celebrated her birthday on
December 5th. She is sometimes viewed as quiet in the group but she has the ability to light up
the room with her smile! She enjoys life and you can see it in her being!
Sister Kenya Grant will celebrate her birthday on December 19th. Sister Kenya is the founder of
New Horizon Women. She is an energetic visionary who desires to make a difference in the lives
of youth and women. Kenya has big dreams for this ministry and with God on her side, those
dreams will be realized. Continued on page 7

Reaching New Horizons Through Healthy Living
Upcoming Book of the Month
We will begin our healthy living initiative January 2012 where we will be targeting the entire woman. Over the next year we will discuss
diet and exercise, mental and physical health, financial and personal relationships. Journals are being created especially for us and this
endeavor. The journal will include a daily journaling section, caloric count/website, recipes, encouraging quotes/scriptures, weigh in pages,
food planners, exercises/weekly targets and more. We look forward to our January 14th meeting and becoming healthier.
Psst…. There will be a surprise for the ladies at this meeting!!! Be excited...Be Very Excited!!!
In Keeping with “Reaching New Horizons through Healthy Living” theme for January, we will be reading Dr. Creflo Dol-
lar’s “Winning in Troubled Times” book.
Dr. Creflo Dollar has built a multi-million-dollar ministry on the message that "it is the will of God for you to prosper in
every way." He preaches that Christian conversion and disciplined steps of Bible study, meditation, tithing and other
actions can lead believers to supernatural blessings and "total-life prosperity" promised by God. Dollar started what is
now World Changers Church International in College Park, Georgia, near Atlanta, in 1986 with eight people worshiping
in a school cafeteria. Over 30,000 members now meet in the 8,500-seat World Dome.

Rev. Erica Smith-Ingram shared a few scriptures with us this month to the keep our focus
on the true reason for the season. She shared Luke 1:67 (The Message Version) - Then
Zachariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied, Blessed be the Lord, the God of
Israel; he came and set his people free… Rev. Smith-Ingram said, “before Obama’s bailout plan, Jesus had
already signed our bailout plan” and we have to remember that this season. She also shared Luke 2:13-14
(The Message Version) - At once the angel was joined by a huge angelic choir singing God's praises: Glory to
God in the heavenly heights, Peace to all men and women on earth who please him. With these verses, she
shared how Jesus has offered “Peace” to all who are willing to serve him.
Sister Cynthia Bradley shared Psalms 27 (King James Version) - 1The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is
the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? 2When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh,
they stumbled and fell. 3Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this
will I be confident….
Please read these scriptures at your leisure. You will be blessed! We also encourage our sisters to bring in scriptures and words of en-
couragement as we meet each month. Thanks to all who shared a word of encouragement this month.
HATE IS TEMPORARY
LOVE IS NECESSARY
A Strong person knows how to keep their life in order.
Even with tears in their eyes, they still manage to say “I’m Ok” with a smile.
Say to a strong person, I just did, God is good.
Change is coming.
God saw your sadness and said hard times are over.
Thanks for making me smile. Live, Laugh, Love!
Don’t let anyone steal you JOY!!!
The Reason for the Season
Before you speak: THINK
Jesus by Akaine Kramarik, age 8
I sent an angel to watch over you last night, but it came back. I
asked “why?” The angel said: “angels don’t watch over angels!”
Twenty angels are IN your world. Ten of them are sleeping, Nine
are playing, One is reading this message.
Thanks to Sister Cynthia Gary for this inspiration

Prayer request?

We would like to continue to pray for the our area Pastors. Colton said in our book of
the month “Heaven is For Real” that the angels carried swords to keep Satan out of
heaven. Pastors/Preachers/Ministers/Reverends must carry their sword (The Word)
on earth to keep Satan out of their church and homes.
There were several names called out during our closing prayer… Let us remember to
lift them up in prayer.

The goal of this Women’s Ministry is to Empower, Encourage and
Educate women from all walks of life using biblical principles. Our focus
is the woman who feels overwhelmed and dissatisfied with family, career,
finances, and relationships. New Horizons is dedicated to improving
the lives of Women and Youth in the Roanoke Valley Area of North
Carolina. It is our desire to help women, through outreach, discover
their God-given purpose.
