Deccan Odyssey Train Journey

Overview

The brain child of Maharashtra Tourism and Development Corporation (MTDC) and the Indian Railways, Deccan Odyssey offers a whirlwind tour to uncover the natural and cultural treasures of the Deccan plateau. The 8 days and 7 nights’ itinerary offers a jaunt into Maratha heartland along with two days’ halt in the beach paradise ‘Goa’. Beginning from the celluloid capital of India ‘Mumbai’, the luxury train allows guests to explore the impregnable Sindhugarh fort, immaculate Tarakarli beach, colonial heritage of Goa, art & craft galore in Kolhapur, World Heritage Sites of Ajanta & Ellora and Kumbh City- ‘Nashik’.

Day Wise itinerary

Day 1(Wednesday): Mumbai

* Arrive at Chattrapati Shivaji Terminal by 16.00 hours.

* Depart for Kudal Railway Station from Chattrapati Shivaji Terminus.

* Savor a lavish feast on board while the train chugs towards its next destination, Sindhugarh.

Day 2 (Thursday): Sindhugarh-Tarakarli Beach * In the wee hours of morning, the train will arrive at Kudal

Railway Station.

* Post breakfast, disembark the train and travel down to Malvan jetty via A/C coach.

* Board the jetty and visit to Sindhugarh Fort.

* Later, depart for Tarakarli Beach Resort.

* Lunch will be served at the beach resort

* Post lunch; depart for Dhampur village via A/C coach. En-route visit Cashew factory.

* At Dhampur Village, explore the ancient temples of Goddess Bhawani and Satara Devi.

* Later in the afternoon, depart for Kudal Railway Station to board Deccan Odyssey train

* The train will roll on to the next destination, Goa

Tarakarli Beach

Day 3 (Friday): Goa

* Early morning, the train will arrive at Karmali Railway Station.

* Disembark the train and proceed on a sightseeing tour of Old Goa which includes Basilica of Bomb Jesus, Se Cathedral Church, St. Augustine Church, Church of St. Francis of Assisi and Fontanhas quarters at Panjim, Goa.

* Return back to Deccan Odyssey for lunch and leisure.

* Later in the evening, disembark the train for dinner and cultural extravaganza at a prominent beachside resort in Goa.

* Post dinner, return to Deccan Odyssey and travel down to Vasco railway station.

Day 4 (Saturday): Goa- Vasco

* Early morning detrain at Vasco Railway Station and board the A/C bus for sightseeing excursion.

* Visit Mangeshi temple dedicated to Lord Shiva followed by Safa Masjid, a prominent Islamic shrine in Ponda.

* Later proceed to Sahakari Spice Farm and explore the organically grown spices and herbal trees. A traditional Goan lunch will be served at the farm.

* Post sightseeing at spice farm; explore the 16th century heritage home known as “Menezes Braganza House” at Chandor village.

* Return back to Deccan Odyssey at Madagaon Railway Station.

* Savor a sumptuous dinner on board while the train chug its way to Kolhapur. Mangeshi temple

Day 5 (Sunday): Kolhapur

* Arrive at Kolhapur Railway Station in the morning.

* Post breakfast; embark on a sightseeing train across the city. Visit New Palace, Bhawani Mandap, Chattrapati Shahu Museum, Mahalakshmi temple and take delight in Martial arts and Cultural Program at Shalini Palace.

* Post sightseeing tour, return back to Deccan Odyssey for dinner and overnight stay.

* The train will roll on to next destination, Aurangabad.

Day 6 (Monday): Aurangabad

* In the wee hours of morning, the train will arrive at Daulatabad Railway Station.

* Post a leisurely breakfast on board; detrain to board A/C coach for sightseeing tour across the city. Explore the mural paintings of Ellora Caves and ruins of Daulatabad Fort.

* Post sightseeing, return to Aurangabad for lunch.

* Post lunch; explore the local tourist attractions which include Bibi ka Maqbara and shopping extravaganza.

* Later return to Deccan Odyssey train and depart for Jalgaon Railway Station.

Day 7 (Tuesday): Ajanta- Nashik

* Savor a delectable brunch on board while the train enters into Jalgaon Railway Station.

* Disembark the train and board the A/C coach for visiting Ajanta Caves.

* Post Ajanta Cave exploration, head back to Deccan Odyssey train.

* The train will now depart for Nashik.

* Lunch will be served on board.

* On reaching Nashik, disembark the train and visit Panchwati Ghat and Kala Ram Temple.

* Later in the evening, depart for Mumbai from Deodali Railway Station.

Ajanta Caves

Day 8 (Wednesday): Mumbai

* Deccan Odyssey will land you back at Chattrapati Shivaji Terminal on the 8th day

* Post breakfast, bid adieu to this unforgettable royal journey.
