STATIONERY LISTS FOR 2015
Next year our stationery lists are available online through Office Products Depot. See: www.theschoolstore.co.nz and search for Waihi East School. Junior packs are for new entrants & Years 1 & 2. Middle packs are for years 3 & 4 and Senior packs are for years 5 & 6. Books can bought any-where but they are already made up into packs through the school store and will be delivered to your door.
PIG BUCKET Every day we collect food scraps at school to feed our school poaka/pig. This poaka has had a very lean year with limited scraps going into the bucket and a number of plastic items being needed to be fished out. Due to this we will be having sausages at prizegiving this year and hope to fatten a pig next year.
SCHOOL DOCTOR Dr. Tineke has held her last school clinic for the year. If you need to see the doctor you can take your child to the walk in clinic on Tuesday morning between 8.30-12pm. Dr. Tineke will continue her clinic next year starting in week 2 10th February 2015.
COMMUNICATION with the BOARD of TRUSTEES
WAIHI EAST SCHOOL SCHOOL NEWSLETTER 38/2014 3 December 2014
Kia ora Welcome to summer. The nip is still in the air however our pool is fully operational. It is just a wee bit chilly when you get out. We have had limited success with people wanting to help us close the pool in the evenings and weekend open/close. If we cannot find whanau to do this, pool opening will be limited to when Ross is on site. Please consider if you could help in this area. Our pool is an amazing resource and we want it open for you! Tomorrow night is our annual Christmas party at school. Come along from 5pm for a beautiful kai and music. Our students are performing at 5.15pm with other music following. Next week is prize giving, another celebration we would like you to attend. Come on down and join in the fun. As the weather heats up, and year six students are getting ready to turn back into small fry at College, making good choices at school has become a focus for staff at school. This week we are reminding children to not get involved in other peoples issues, especially the ’policing’ of other students. We have found that this usually turns to custard with a minor problem that can be solved together turns into an epic afternoon of interviewing children. A large number of staff are on duty and I am very available in the office if children need assistance. Please chat to your children about our Golden Rules. They are in place for the safety and happiness of all people who pass through our school gates. School reports go home with year four to six children this week, and some anniversary juniors. Look out for a child led conference slip, a time when you can come to school and your child will chat about their learning. We would appreciate sending your newsletter home via email instead of in bags with children, particularly when soggy tog bags make your newsletter unreadable. Please drop us a text or phone Sharon if you are keen. Our aim is to keep you informed of all school happenings so you can take part in school events as your busy lifestyle allows. This year due to school busyness we will not have a float in the local Christmas parade. Head into town and enjoy the event from the sideline. We will be back in force next year with a group of parents helping us to make it happen. Nga mihi nui, Emily ([email protected])

I made a zebra picture at home and I
brought it to school.
By Kylia M, age 5, room 5.
I went to my Oma’s home. I got to swim in their pool. I got
lunch. We had a BBq. I had a fun time at my Oma’s. I played in
the grass and I rode down the hill. I played with the dogs. Their
names are Sammy and Meg. If I throw the ball, they got it and
quickly brought the ball back to me. Then they jumped into the
pool.
By Tegan O, age 6, room 6.
When they were camping, Ginger Sparkles and Rosebud went
for a walk. Rosebud went down the right path and Ginger Spar-
kles went down the wrong path. She felt sad and lonely. Then
she saw a shadow it was Rosebud. “Hi” said Rosebud. “Let’s get
you out of here!” said Rosebud. ‘But how?” sais Ginger Spar-
kles. “I will show you.” said Rosebud. “This is what you do.”
By Ana W, age 5, room 4.
