MAGICIAN SHOW NEXT WEEK

On Wednesday of next week (17 December) at 11.30am we are going to see Children’s Entertainer, Balloon Artist, Magician and Compere Mike at the Waihi R.S.A. Payment is required for your child to go and we will also require help with transport. $2 per student. Please complete the slip below and send to the office along with payment.

SCHOOL DOCTOR Dr. Tineke has held her last school clinic for the year. If you need to see the doctor you can take your child to the walk in clinic on Tuesday morning between 8.30-12pm. Dr. Tineke will continue her clinic next year starting in week 2 10th February 2015.

CHRISTMAS CHEER! A group of parents would like to bring Christmas Cheer into homes. We are collecting kai items to make into hampers and gifts to donate to whanau in our school community. If you would like to make a donation, please drop items into the school office. Please label gifts girl or boy/senior or junior. Thanks AnneMarie for co-ordinating this.

LIBRARY The library has closed for the year but there are still many many library books to be returned. Please return these as soon as possible so we can stocktake the library. There are 158 items still outstanding!!! Also any home readers can now be returned to school as well.

THURSDAY BIKING WITH SHAR A reminder that this Thursday 11th December will be the last Project Energize Junior afterschool biking session with Shar. A huge thank you to Shar for the amazing skills and tips she has shared with us during this time.

Kia ora The last newsletter of the year. My goodness, how did that happen? It has been a year of madness and mayhem, a year of shining in the sun. It is amazing to look back on what we have accomplished. Thank you all for joining the journey and positively supporting all tamariki within our school community. Next week is a crazy week with many fun activities. On Monday Year six students head to the beach for a fun outing with their teachers and whanau. Tuesday we are holding a Bikes in Book day. We ask students to get dressed up as book character, maybe a book that involves a bike!. Wednesday is the magic show at the RSA ($2 per student) and we end the year on Thursday at 1pm. By then all students and staff will be ready for a lovely summer break. A huge thank you to Alex, Steve, Tracey and Lisa for organizing our Christmas Party last week and to all students and whanau who manned the food stalls and brought baking to school. This was a mega night of fundraising. Thank you all for attending and getting into the Christmas spirit. Prize Giving is on Friday, starting at 11am. With some exceptional Year Six students, it has been one of our trickiest years to decide who to award prizes to. Come along and check out our recipients. A sausage snack will follow our presentations with a cake and cuppa. Students will need to bring along lunch. You are welcome to take students home from prize giving or return to collect them at 3pm. A free pool key is now available to Waihi East School whanau. The pool will be open only when our caretaker is on site due to health and safety requirements around testing and chemicals. At this stage the pool will be closed from the 22nd of December through to the 8th of January. The competition is all on with our pumpkins! We have additional seed for sale at $1.00 per seed. Please see Sharon if you would like more seeds. As part of your holiday fun times, make sure you water your plant daily. Happy holidays. Enjoy and take care of your whanau. Junior school packs are for new entrants & Years 1 & 2. (Rooms 5, 6,7, & 8) Middle school packs are for years 3 & 4(Rooms 3, 4 & 9)and Senior school packs are for years 5 & 6. (Rooms 1 & 2). Books can bought anywhere but they are already made up into packs through the school store and will be delivered to your door.

Team East Whanau Christmas Party A HUGE thank you to all who came along to support our school and tamariki at last Thursdays Christmas party. $239.20 was raised at the gate which is going towards purchas-ing some new small and medium bike helmets, and $934.10 was our profit on the food and drink sales. This money will go towards our 2015 senior camp. Thanks goes to our MAD team who sponsored camp by purchasing all of the food and drink items, and to those who contributed with baking for the bake stall.

WAIHI COLLEGE FUNDRAISING The Waihi College A netball and 1stXV Rugby team are again fundraising for the 2015 Sports Tour. They are excited to be taking the Miss Waihi Beach event back to the sound shell at Pohutukawa Park this coming summer. Keep a look out in the local papers for the date.

TARTAN IN THE PARK Saturday 14th February 2015 at Paeroa Domain. Competition “What will TARTAN look like in the 2015 World of Fashion?. Make it! Buy it! Model it!
