Mallory and Allyson Ray Rick and Heather Ray, Lenexa, welcomed the birth of their twin daughters, Mallory Nicole and Allyson Renee, born on Dec. 11, 2008 at the Overland Park Medi- cal Center in Overland Park. The twins were born at 2:02 a.m. and 2:03 a.m. Mallory Nicole weighed five pounds, seven ounces and was 17 inches long; Allyson Renee weighed five pounds, six ounces and was 17 3/4 inches long. Stratten Kaine McKenna Stratten Kaine McKenna was born Dec. 11, 2008 at the Norton County Hospital at 11:15 p.m. He weighed 8 pounds, 15.5 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long. Parents are Jason and Chan- dra McKenna, Jennings. Grandparents are Brian and Jennifer McKenna of Norton, Kathy and Kerry Nicholson of Larned, Judy Braun of Norton and Ed Braun of Norcatur. Great-Grandparents are Dale and Leota Goss of Norton, Pat and Erwin Fredde of McCook, Bonnie Fredde, formerly of Norton, Bill and Betty Nichol- son of Larned, Jack and Patsy Barnard of Norton and Allen and Beth Braun of Norton. Call us at 877-3361 Arthur Paul Wudtke, son of Paul Emil and Agnes (Dicks) Wudtke, was born April 13, 1921, in Norton, and died at the Hays Medical Center in Hays on Jan. 9, 2009, at the age of 87. He attended grade school to the 8th grade, and at the age of 18, he moved to Kansas City, Mo. He served in the United States Army during World War II from 1941 until 1945. On Feb. 20, 1948, Art and Elaine Kachel were united in marriage in Kansas City. They moved to Independence, Mo., in 1955 where he was a shipping foreman for Columbia Steel Tanks. His wife, Elaine, passed away on Jan. 13, 1999, and in 2001, Art returned to Norton. Art had served as the treasurer of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Kansas City, Mo., for 40 years and was currently a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Norton. He was also a member of the V.F.W. Survivors include one daughter and her husband, Joni and Dan Davis, Lake Balboa, Calif.; one brother, Marvin Wudtke, Norton; four sisters, Alma Schulze and Leanora Braun, both of Norton; Ida Gowens, Galena; and Norma Jean Davis, Colorado Springs; two grandchildren; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one brother, Herman. Funeral services were held today at 2 p.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Norton. The United States Honor Guard from Fort Riley was present to give military honors. Interment was at the Norton Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Norton. Enfield Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Dale W. Morse was born a twin and the ninth of 11 children to Joseph Morse and Alice Lillie (Stallsworth) Morse on Aug. 5, 1918 in Calvert. He died on Jan. 8, 2009 at Christian Homes in Holdrege at the age of 90. He started school at the Belle Plain Township School south- west of Calvert, where he grad- uated from the eighth grade. He was inducted into the United States Army on Jan. 28, 1941 in Omaha. He served in the Army Horse davalry during World War II. He also served in the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Eighth Armored Infantry Battalion. He served in France and Bel- gium and was wounded in Ger- many. He received the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon with two ser- vice stars, the American Theatre Campaign Ribbon, a Purple Heart, the American Defense Service Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged on Jan. 8, 1946 at Indiana Head- quarters Hospital Center, Camp Edwards, Mass. On Oct. 30, 1943, while in the military, he was united in marriage to Marie Allen in Nashville. To this union three children were born, two sons, James Allen, and Jack David, and one daughter, Mary Lou. They resided in Tennessee for a year after his discharge, after which he purchased a farm north of Beaver City. In the spring of 1976 they moved to Beaver City. He was a member of the Unit- ed Methodist Church in Beaver City, the Grange, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, was a 32nd Degree Ma- son, was a member of the Odd Fellows, was past president of the Furnas County Fair Board for more than 25 years, served on the Beaver City Board of Education, served on the Edi- son Elevator Board, the rural fire board, the Furnas County Weed Board, the Beaver City City Council and the Beaver City Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his father in June 1965; his mother on Aug. 5, 1977; his wife Marie on Dec. 6, 1991, four brothers, one in infancy, Gay- lord Morse and his wife Edith, his twin Doyle Morse and his wife Pauline and Dean Morse and his wife Thelma; six sisters, Bertha Kasson and husband Al- len, Edith Maxey and husband Gaylord, Bess Evans, Wilma Kentigh and husband Paul, Bernice Kentigh and husband Clarence and June Steinke and husband Ivan. He is survived by his two sons, James “Jim” Morse and wife Nancy of Loomis, Neb. and Jack Morse and wife Mary of rural Beaver City; one daughter, Mary Lou Mittan and husband Allen of Lincoln; five grand- children, other relatives and many, many friends. Funeral services were held today at the United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. with Pastor Robert Berlie and Rev. Wesley Russell officiating. Interment was at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Beaver City with military honors at the grave site by the Veterans Or- ganizations of Beaver City and Lincoln. She grew up in the Clayton area, attended the Clayton Grade School and graduated from Clayton High School. On March 3, 1946, she married Merton Goodman in Oberlin. She was a homemaker, making their home in Clayton, Hays and Norton. Her husband, Merton, preceded her in death in 2000. She enjoyed cooking and bak- ing, and loved antiques and re- finishing antique furniture. Survivors include six chil- dren, Linda and husband, Mor- ris Trengen, Hays, Marcia and husband, Larry Stapp, Holcomb, Lynn and wife Sheryl Goodman, Scott City, Zandra and husband, Charles Waggoner, Morland, Tina Perdue, La Crosse and Kendra and husband, Chris Fager, Las Vegas; one brother, Rex and wife Ann Davis, Win- field; one sister, Georgia and husband, Lyman Rowh, Norton; 13 grandchildren; 19 great- grandchildren; one great-great- granddaughter; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Janice Lawshe; one son- in-law, Ron Sulzman; and two granddaughters. Funeral services were held today at 10:30 a.m. at Enfield Funeral Home. Memorials may be sent to the Clayton United Methodist Church. There was no burial as she was cremated. He graduated from Arnold High School in 1945. He married Marion Faye Norton on Jan. 4, 1949. He was a former farmer, retired from Roosevelt School as a custo- dian in 1992 after 15 years of service, and he and his wife volunteered at the Community Assistance Center in Hays. He was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. Survivors include his wife, Faye, of the home; son Tom Bauer and his wife Belinda, of Almena; daughters Susan Wolf and husband Bob of Hays, Nan- cy Meitl and husband, Duane, Rush Center; daughter-in-law Cindy Bauer of Hays; three brothers, John Bauer of Ar- nold, Raymie Bauer of Iola and Goddie Bauer of California; three sisters, Nora Edwards of Jetmore, Verda Ochs and Annie Mollenkamp, both of Arnold; 10 grandchildren, Cory and Joey Bauer, Jeff Wolf, Chrissy Bandel, Curtis Wolf, Shelly Du- ell, Tara Comerci, Tessa Bauer, Jennifer and Rhonda Meitl; and seven great-grandchildren.
