PAGE 1 MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT December 2017 So it is almost time for me to bid adieu as Chapter Chair (or President…I never could keep that straight). Bette Sturino will ably fill that role in 2018. I’m sure she will do a great job, as she does with everything else. I’ll return to the role of Webmaster, which is every bit as glamorous as editing HTML code and clearing hundreds of SPAM comments sounds. We’ve gotten a lot done in my three years as Chapter Chair. We have continued to grow. We have held some great events, most notably our Symposiums. And we have always tried to provide more value to you, our members. But here’s the thing. I can’t really take any credit for our success. My job is mostly writing this introduction to each newsletter, saying a few words before webinars (sometimes), and speaking at the beginning and end of the Symposium. All the real work and nearly all the ideas come from the other people on our Board. It has been a real pleasure to work with them as Chair. In fact, I’m glad I’ll be working with them again in 2018. So what’s up for next year? We are already beginning to plan the 2018 Symposium. You know we’ll have some great webinars. We’ll certainly continue with a Mentoring/Professional Development program. And we’ll continue to look for more ways to provide value to you. So stay tuned. 2018 will be a good one. MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT December

2017

So it is almost time for me to bid adieu as Chapter Chair (or President…I never could keep that straight).

Survivor – Proposal Island: Navigating Mergers and Acquisitions and Staying Afloat | Presented by Louise Pulini

With another new year, many of you might be facing the challenges of Mergers & Acquisitions. This presentation will focus on living through this complex minefield.

In recent years, there has been a growing trend for companies to either merge with other companies or be acquired to succeed in the marketplace. Proposal teams are particularly affected as they figure out how to grow and prosper in new climates, learn new processes, work with new colleagues and SMEs while not suffering through survivors' guilt.

Interactive dialogue and discussion will be a key part of this presentation as stories of living through these company changes are shared to develop lessons learned and best practices.

About our presenter:

Louise Pulini, CF APMP

OptumRX-Proposal Project Manager

Louise Pulini has been a member of APMP for over 15 years. She has been the secretary to the board of the APMP Liberty Chapter for over 8 years. She also hosts the Liberty Chapter’s monthly “Coffee Break” Sessions.

Louise has been in proposal management since 1999, and she is currently remotely employed by OptumRx (a division of United Healthcare Group), where she works as a Proposal Project Manager, specializing in pharmacy benefit management proposal strategy and operations. She greatly enjoys her work in crafting winning proposals and also values her role as a coach and mentor for newer members of her team. She is also proud to be a UHG Culture Ambassador and Innovation Advocate.

Louise has extensive experience in corporate communications and marketing and has also worked as a healthcare writer, editor and researcher. Her educational background includes studies in English Education and Library Science. She is located in Doylestown, PA and her hobbies include world travel, serving as a programmer for film societies, being actively involved in Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Bucks County, and visiting her beloved NYC, where she lived for many years.
