Please continue sharing memories of Kenny on our Webpage....eversoncoughlin.com

Kenny was born in Winfield, LA but lived most of his life in Deville, LA. Kenny is the middle child born to Kenneth Henderson Simmons, Sr and Mary Dell Lasyone Simmons. Prior to his mother’s death in January 2016 many phone calls occurred between the two and many a debate was had even if they both were on the same page. In his younger years you could find Kenny following his dad around afraid he would leave for work without him. This instilled in Kenny his work ethic that followed him for the remainder of his life. Kenny worked in many different positions in the oilfield, on land and offshore starting out with a family owned business Metro Well Service, more than 20 years with Hunt Oil and most recently as a Completions Superintendent with Zavanna, LLC.

Kenny was so proud of the grown adults he raised in Kenneth Leander, Marshall Kody and Kara Leanne Simmons and he was always so vibrant when speaking of them. He spoke so highly of the values he instilled in his kids and about the amazing adults they have become. While in ND Kenny met Melissa Viall and an unexpected blessing was sent to them from heaven above. Ty Henderson Simmons was born in 2014 and became Kenny’s “super hero” from the moment he arrived.

Fishing and hunting was Kenny’s passion for relaxation in life. His favorite place on Earth was at the Achilles Plantation owned by the Beard family, he spent many, many days there hunting until his move to ND. His love for fishing came from his dad on Toledo Bend in LA and later in life his new love was to teach Ty all about the in’s and outs of walleye fishing. Bass fishing was the sport that had him hooked until he came to ND and he learned about the elusive Walleye. He spent many hours researching the best bait, spinners, lindy rigs and poles to ensure he always came home with the most walleye fillets until the next time he could get out on the water.

Kenny could visit with anyone of any age for hours without even realizing it and nobody was ever a stranger. He spent many hours with a cup of coffee in his hand and conversation about whatever came up.

Those closest to Kenny left to cherish their memories include Melissa Viall and their son Ty, Kenny and his wife Maria Simmons (Karter and Kason), Marshall and his wife Julie Simmons (Konner, Kaelynn and Kameron) and daughter Kara Simmons. Sister Denice and husband, Bill Owens, Brother Greg and wife, Suzi Simmons as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Kenneth and Elaine Dean as well as Melissa’s kids Brady, Britne and Brock Viall will hold a special place in their hearts for Kenny until we all meet again.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and great grandparents as well as many aunts and uncles.
