April 2017 Archbishop Molloy High School 1 Not for school but for life April 2017 Dear Stanner Families, Lent is a season of reflection and preparation. For our entire community, this season gives us opportunity to reflect of our collective gifts and ask how we can use these gifts for others. One way we have observed this Lenten season with a number of inspirational and successful service projects. As part of the International Marist Day of Service our students generously donated well over 1,400 packages of baby supplies, toiletries, and undergarments. They helped box and deliver these items to a variety of charities. Our seniors donated several boxes of peanut butter, jelly and bread and over 100 students then made over 1,250 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for local shelters and food pantries. Students also cleaned up three local parks, tutored grammar school students, and worked with children in a local shelter. The enthusiasm and joy with which they completed their service was truly moving. March is also the time when many of our seniors are receiving acceptance letters from a variety of schools and their futures are beginning to take shape. I am again very proud to report that many of our students have been accepted into some of the finest institutions of higher learning in the world. From the Air Force Academy to the University of Toronto to Columbia University, I applaud our seniors for their willingness to apply, and gain acceptance, to a wonderfully diverse and exciting collection of colleges and universities. These superb opportunities are the product of the collective hard work they have put in over their career at Molloy and the amazing level of support you have provided for them. While our seniors are near the end of their college process, it is never too early or late for students and parents of freshmen, sophomores, and juniors to learn more about how to successfully navigate this journey. On April 5 th we will host our college night in the Curran Gym at 7:00 PM. I will briefly present some data about ACT and SAT exams and our featured speaker will be Emily Wolper. Ms. Wolper is a highly experienced admissions counselor who has worked in the Columbia University admissions department in a variety of capacities. She will share her experience and knowledge on a number of topics and take your questions. Later this spring, we will again host a college admissions panel during which admissions officers from a number of schools will answers your questions. More information on this evening will be made available soon. In closing, I encourage you to look through the following pages for information about upcoming events and opportunities. We are very thankful for the opportunity to work with such wonderful students. On behalf of the administration, faculty, and staff at Molloy I wish you all a peaceful and joyous Easter! Sincerely, Darius Penikas

Dear Stanner Families,

Lent is a season of reflection and preparation. We will be holding our annual Reconciliationservice on April 4th with priests from neighboring parishes coming to hear confessions for the entire student body in the theater. Our annual Fast-A-Thon will take placeon Wednesday April 5th which involves students giving up lunch for the day. They will be asking family, friends and loved ones to sponsor them for this very worthwhile experience. Every year we raise at least $2000 for those who are less fortunate. The season of Lent will culminate with our Holy Week Liturgy on Wednesday April 12th at 8am in the Jack Curran Gym. All are welcome!

College Night - April 5th

CAMP MARIST Camp Marist was founded in 1949 on the beautiful shores of Ossipee Lake by The Marist Brothers. After having established numerous elementary and high schools throughout the world, the Brothers wished to create a camp which complemented what they were doing in their schools. Camp Marist is a traditional residential summer camp for boys and girls, ages 6 to 16. Nestled on 300 acres in the White Mountain region of New Hampshire, it offers children an opportunity to continue learning about their faith, learn about character and community, develop strong self-esteem and self-awareness, and grow in confidence while practicing new skills. It’s goal is to provide positive, life-enhancing experiences for all participants in our programs and for members of our surrounding community, including those less fortunate. Camp Marist strives to offer a stimulating and fun-filled environment, which fosters personal growth in faith, mind, body, and friendship through challenging and educational activities.
