Dear Parents and Carers, I hope you are keeping well. In school our small POD system is running smoothly and staff and pupils are focused on safe physical distancing, struc-tured learning and helping students to adjust to the new approaches to working in small groups, with very limited access to other areas of the school. We are very proud of our students, staff and families for uniting together at such a difficult time. You have been so un-derstanding about the need to continue to maintain our highest levels of safety on site and sadly this still means that the vast majority of students are still needing to remain at home. This week, I want to send my SPECIAL THANKS to all those students not yet in school who are really persevering with some regular learning and making the most of the rich variety of resources on our website. At this stage, we are still only able to have small numbers of students on site and we are grateful to you for your support to help us prioritise our limited spaces for those students whose current risk assessment or key worker parents require them to come into school. As time progresses we understand that engagement with learning at home can be really challenging to keep going. If this is your situation, firstly I can assure you that your child is not alone. Worryingly there are many children across the coun-try finding it difficult to keep up with education at home. Secondly, these are some suggestions that you may wish to consider:
1. Your child’s wellbeing and that of your family is the most important factor....safety and positive relationships are
crucial (if needed please seek help, see below * for possible support).
2. KEEP IN TOUCH with tutors and leaders at school and use the school email system. Each class has it's own email
for home learning and communication with tutors "classname"@oaklodge.hants.sch.uk for example [email protected]
3. Tutors can help you and your child to find the activities that suit each individual student engage positively. Our regu-
lar phone calls home and email links are an important way of connecting and exploring what works best for your child and each home context.
4. Learning can be part of every day events at home, such as cooking, life skills, daily walks, gardening and physical ac-
tivity. If formal home learning is causing more stress please contact your child’s tutor or call us on the school number and we can offer suggestions and support. Your family’s wellbeing is crucial.
5. Focus on what is going well, for example, some families have told us their child has started helping out more at
home and now try out things they have never been willing to try before! Let’s celebrate! If you would like your child to receive a certificate from school for their achievements at home before the end of term, please email details to: [email protected]. To give everyone opportunity please send us details of ONE outstanding magic moment or achievement only per student for June. We would like to try to give every student a chance and therefore politely request just one email per child for now. Finally, if you have some helpful suggestions for other parents/ carers supporting their child at home please email me on: [email protected]. I will consider how we may be able to incorporate this into our parent/ carer links on our website. Many thanks. Please keep safe and well. Warmest wishes, Sharon Burt

Acorns 3 have been making delicious
healthy fruit Smoothies at school.
Henry completing his balance challenge,
walking across a big fallen tree trunk.
Well Acorns 4, it’s been very busy at my house. Peggy is sure busy. Did you know pup-pies can keep you awake lots in the night? She is either crazy busy or flat out asleep.
The first few weeks are very important for getting into really good habits and ensuring Peggy has a good healthy life. Did you know dogs don’t know that it’s important to go to the loo outside? We have to train her! Hope you have a good week and stay safe.
From Mrs Tatlow
Hi Acorns 3, We hope you are all well and safe at home. Thank you so much for your emails. We love reading them and looking at the photos of your home learning. From the photographs we can see that you have been chefs, scientists and mathematicians. Keep up the hard work. We miss you all so much. Lots of love to you all
