October 2017

Dear Parents/Carers,

Year 1 Autumn Term

On the first day back after the holiday (Monday 30 th October), we shall be having a ‘Diwali Day’. If your child has anything related to this celebration please bring them in on that day.

On the Tuesday we are launching our new topic about toys. We would like every child to bring in one toy to share in circle time and there will be an opportunity to play with them during the morning. We will do our best to keep the toys safe during the day, but please don’t bring in expensive, precious toys or electronic toys.

Our learning challenge is: ‘Why are our toys more fun than Grandma and Grandad’s old toys?”

The main focus of this topic is History but we will be covering all elements of the curriculum.

Our Year 1 reading challenge is going to be a big focus this term (please see separate letter) – we hope this will inspire the children to read lots!

Please ensure PE kits are labelled and back in school for the first week back. PE days will be Thursday and Friday.

We wish you all a happy half-term break.

The Year 1 Team
