School resource officers: A class act

SCHOOL DUTY — School resource officers are now on duty on all seven campuses in the Obion County School System. Among them is Obion County

sheriff’s deputy Ben Hudson, an OC native who is on duty daily at Lake Road Elementary School near Union City. He actually attended Lake Road as a child.

VETERAN SRO — Raphe Whaley, a Union City police officer, has served for many years as school resource officer

at Union City High School. He also did duty at UC Middle School until an SRO was added there this school year.

RIDGEMONT RECOGNITION — Ridgemont Elementary School hon-ored its school resource officer, Obion County sheriff’s deputy Harold Banks, on National Law Enforcement Appreciation

BACK TO SCHOOL — Jonathan Reyna (center) is back at his high school alma mater, Obion County Central High School, as its school resource officer. He is an Obion County sher-iff’s deputy. SAFE AT SF — Last Thursday was National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day — and South Fulton Middle/High School paid tribute to its school resource officer, Obion County sheriff’s dep-

uty David Lamb, with a photo on its Facebook page. Lamb is a former South Fulton police officer who taught DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) for many years.

SERVING STUDENTS — Ben Burnett (left) is on duty as the school resource officer at South Fulton Elementary School, while David Callens (right) serves daily as SRO at Black Oak Elementary School in Hornbeak. Both are Obion County sheriff’s deputies.

TO PROTECT & TO SERVE — Union City Middle School recently welcomed Union City police officer Robby Orsborne (left) as its new school resource officer, while Obion County sheriff’s deputy Justin Hobbs (right) was added as the SRO at Hillcrest Elementary School in Troy.
