Aussie of the Month

Congratulations to Zac who was announced as our Aussie of the Month

last Friday at assembly. Zac upholds our values to an exceptional

standard and always gives of his best in everything he does. Well done

Zac we are all very proud of you.

Congratulations to Kobi and Scarlett who were announced as our Artists

of the Month. Their art work hangs proudly in the foyer.

Congratulations to Logan who was announced as our Performing Artist of

the Month. Logan always gives of his best in all aspects of our Performing

Arts Program.

Congratulations to Daniel who is our Sports Star of the Month. Daniel is

Captain of our T-ball Team and thrives on the sporting field.

School Production

Excitement is building as our production “Back to the Music” will be

performed at the Kel Watson Theatre next Wednesday 27th and Thursday

28th July. The staff and children have been working hard rehearsing for

our school production with the main cast and bands rehearsing during the

holidays. Tomorrow we have a full dress rehearsal at school from 11.30-

1.30pm in the Multi-purpose Room and next Wednesday the whole school

will be travelling by bus to Kel Watson Theatre for a rehearsal in the

theatre. It promises to be a great experience for all children and a night

not to be missed. Tickets are selling fast and can be purchased online at:

www.trybooking.com/LRJK

T-Ball Champions

Our T-ball Team qualified for the District Championships which were held

last Monday at Gilbert Park. After winning many games to get to this

stage I’m pleased to announce that our Team was victorious in winning

the District final, firstly beating Boronia K-12 and then beating St Andrews

in the final. The Team has now qualified for the Metropolitan

Championships to be held in the next few weeks. This is a fantastic effort

and a credit to all the hard work put in by the team, Miss K and Mrs.

Tuohey. Well done boys we are all very proud of you not only for the fact

that you won the final but also the way you represented our school.

Deakin Science Students

This term, 25 fourth year science students from Deakin University will be

attending WASPS every Friday to teach a Science Unit to our Grade 1-4

children. The students will be at WASPS from 10.00am - 1.30pm each

Friday. We welcome the students and their Lecturer Mr. Peter Hope to

WASPS.

School Strategic Plan

Our School Strategic Plan is divided into four areas.

1. Student Achievement

2. Student Engagement

3. Wellbeing

4. Productivity

In each of these areas we have set goals and standards to achieve over a

four year period.

To achieve and monitor our progress we have in place an Annual

Implementation Plan which gives us direction as to how we are going to

achieve the high standards we have set.

I’m pleased to say that at this stage we are well and truly ahead and in

many cases have exceeded our expectations and goals. We are so

fortunate to have such a dedicated and professional staff who are always

striving to improve outcomes for all children.

Prep Information Night.

We had a great turnout of parents at our first Prep Information Session

last Tuesday evening. Many thanks to Miss Paton and Miss Bain for

organising such an informative night. Our first Prep Transition Day will be

held on Friday 14th October.

Have a great weekend

I look forward to seeing everyone at the School Production next

week.

Go Tigers!!!

This week at The Hive we

On Wednesday we had free time on the big

kids playground. Out on the hard courts we

even had a down ball competition! With

everyone being so inclusive and inviting we

had a great afternoon!

On Tuesday we all got together to decide on

the Hives activity for the afternoon. We

decided to head down to the big kids

playground to have a play and a run around.

On Monday we got busy in the kitchen

making crispy chocolate crackers! Zoe,

Evana and Abby worked together to mix in

all the ingredients together and popped

them in the fridge to get crunchy!

On Wednesday it’s kids choice day! We’ll take a vote and see who wants to get outside for some group games or free play, do some cooking or get into the art room to create something

special.

On Monday we’re checking the

weather and heading outside! We’ll

enjoy some free play on the hard

courts; big kids play ground and the

oval.

On Friday we’re putting our construction hats on heading into the

art room and creating different sculptures and creations out of our

recyclable materials.

On Tuesday we’re putting our chef’s hats on and baking delicious zucchini bread! We’ll work together to measure all the ingredients out and mix them all together making scrumptious zucchini

bread!

On Thursday we’ll head down to the multipurpose room and have a vote on

some of our favourite games to play together. We might play fruit salad,

octopus or poison ball!
