P.A.R.T.Y.

It’s P.A.R.T.Y. Time! On October 19 2017, the Grade 10 students from Davidson, Kenaston, Loreburn, and Craik schools will participate in the P.A.R.T.Y. Program in Davidson. We are very grateful for all the community involvement helping to make this day possible. P.A.R.T.Y. stands for Prevent Alcohol and Risk-Related Trauma in Youth. Throughout the day, the Grade 10 students will experience what it is like to be in the place of an injury survivor. The day starts with an opening presentation and discussion about “smart vs stupid” risk. The students then travel to a mock crash scene put on by the local Fire Department, RCMP, and EMS. The students will then proceed to small group presentations where they will hear from each of the following: RCMP, Addictions Services, Rehabilitation, EMS, ER Nurse, and finally the Funeral Home. The day will conclude with an injury survivor speaking about their injury and what life has been like. Lunch will be provided for the students and they will be given a scenario and an injury which they will be required to mimic as they eat their lunch! The day will have a huge impact on students, leaving them thinking about their choices and the risks they are willing to take. If you are interested in volunteering for the day, please contact Liza Dahl, Sun West Addictions Educator, at 306-561-7783.

Saskatchewan Library Week

Saskatchewan Library Week (SLW) is a province-wide, annual event, which promotes the wonderful resources and services that libraries have to offer. Saskatchewan Library Week is celebrated throughout Saskatchewan in all types of libraries, in both urban and rural communities and by all age groups. The theme this year is “Libraries Matter!”.

*We will be unveiling the New Willow nominees that week. *We are continuing to work on developing library skills in the month of October. *There are still some outstanding library and text books from last school year. If you have any of these please return to the school. Thanks!

Davidson School is once again

hosting a number of informative evenings for parents to come and learn about worry/stress/anxiety (WSA) and the strategies people can use to decrease worry in their own lives and their children’s lives.

The Tell Them From Me Survey indicated that many students experience worry, stress and anxiety!

In some classes as many as 40% of students reported experiencing worry and feelings of anxiousness.

In response, Sue Mills (Child and Youth Counselor) hosted some parent information nights

last year and there proved to be a great interest in the community as there was a good number of parents attending the meetings. Sue will be offering a series of information nights for parents and community members about how worry/stress/ and anxiety can affect our everyday lives and what we can do to help alleviate it. If the response and attendance to the initial evenings is positive, the group will continue for the entire school year and 9 evening sessions will be planned.

The First Meeting will take place on October 25, 2017 @ 7:00

pm – 8:30 pm.
