Douglas Hutchinson is a business executive with over thirty years of experience in business

development, corporate management, product development, fabrication and application. Douglas has

earned a reputation of vision and results. He has a critical understanding of the importance of time-is-

of-the-essence driven assignments.

PROFESSIONAL SCOPE:

Q2Power Technologies, Inc. – COO; Lancaster, Ohio - 2011 to 2016: Technology startup spin-off from

Cyclone Power Technology. Established entire facility buildout, equipment

specification/configuration/procurement and operating policies/procedures. Successfully brought product

through R&D development to first article production in under one year. In charge of hiring and team

building, initial budgeting/forecasting, and setup accounting systems including inventory, parts/drawing

systems, PO process and establishing vendor accounts. Placed hardware and software systems for R&D

design/analysis and manufacturing operations. Responsible for Project Development for new production

systems roll-out. Company went public in just 14 months from start-up.

Cyclone Power Technologies, Inc. (CYPW), Pompano Beach, Florida – VP of Business

Development. Created and defined strategic national and international alliances and relationships to

enhance business expansion. Took the business from $1 million in revenues to over $110 million in

research applications in nine months. Strengthened ties and relationships with Fortune 100

Companies including GE, Lockheed/Martin, General Dynamics, etc. Was instrumental in establishing

and/or strengthening international relationships in Europe, Asia, South America and Australia.

Account and project manager of DoD, DoE, Homeland Security, NSF, and Military Sub-Contractor

projects. Additionally, program administrator responsible for application submittals for R&D and

technology innovation grant funding. Developed HR strategic compensation plan including job

descriptions, pay levels, merit and “StyncWyrcs” motivational programs to enhance internal innovation

development. Lead developer of the company’s strategic vision planning and execution of hierarchy

structures for departments, acquisitions and operating divisions. Douglas’ addition to the Cyclone team

yielded a 604% increase in revenues from 2011 to 2013.

Velocita Holdings, Inc; Boynton Beach, Florida – President/Principal - 2005 to 2011: Douglas was

the visionary consultant for real estate development, economic development, business development

and historic downtown re-development. The focus of work was in developing planning, permitting

review, incentives and recruiting strategies to attract development. Scope of work includes

public/private financing, special development district formation, architectural design guidelines, small

and minority business programs, promotional programs ranging from graphics / printed materials to

promotional events to large scale community festivals, targeted business recruiting and entitlement

process assistance. Client needs have included consulting for transformation of current community

physical and human resources into viable economic centers. Work spans new construction to in-fill to

historic preservation including tax act projects. Specialize in preservation of community heritage with

vision on emerging markets and viable sustainable growth.

The firm specialized in lifestyle development niches. It provided corporate vision, project structure

concepts and corporate operations oversight. Douglas created sustainable alternative energy

generation / storage and resource management systems for water, waste water, air, etc. for the next

generation of sustainable community development. The projects have drawn the attention and

partnership formation with America’s Fortune Five Hundred industry leaders, such as General

Electric, Jacobs Engineering, Balfour Bettie Construction, and HHCP Architects. Additionally,

renowned research universities, such as Rice University, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Embry Riddle

Aeronautical University and Florida Atlantic University, being project partners. The scope includes

The development concepts have earned international acclaim from leading environmental groups

such as The Climate Group. In direct meetings with former Prime Minister Tony Blair, one of the

Climate Groups principles, the advanced sustainable development concepts of the firm were

recognized as essential to global development and tracking of sustainable “green” issues.

BUSINESS

Douglas has established and operated one of America’s first Small Business Development Centers

(SBA SBDC program) outside a university campus, in a small rural town. This program serviced over

300 small, minority and emerging businesses with one-on-one consulting including government

procurement and grant writing training. This program was then adjusted and replicated for larger,

urban city neighborhoods. Douglas has owned and/or operated business incubators as large as

100,000 sq.ft. and 6 tenants. His business consulting and management input has had several very

successful clients with over 300% in growth.

SALES AND MARKETING

Douglas has extensive retail sales training ranging from retail consumer electronics to real estate to

restaurant service to luxury historic B&Bs to custom exotic and high performance automobiles.

Douglas has received formal retail sales training and set sales records as the youngest sales person

at a major electronic sales store. Every area of sales, Douglas has had top results being recognized

as top sales agent. In real estate Douglas averaged over $3 million in sales annually. In economic

development, his development programs have been recognized as benchmark strategies for

business attraction; including a cover story in “Time” magazine and an international “Silver-Real”

winning PBS documentary. Douglas has taught sales, customer service / care programs and sales

development strategies for over half a dozen groups and organizations.

As owner of CTX Motorcars, Douglas was responsible for all automotive sales and marketing.

The promotional tour of the high-performance cars included major automotive shows, car show

competitions, a SCCA racing team and promotional appearances. The company was a five-time

Best-of-Show winner and was featured in multiple regional, national and international magazines.

Additionally, the company and Douglas were featured on several News channels. Sales were one on

one with customers for the high end custom cars as well as finished unit sales. Sales included

dealership programs and developing wholesale structure. Pricing and market analysis were used to

establish MSRP strategies.

GENERAL DESIGN

Successful design projects range from award winning multifamily architecture to commercial to

industrial building designs. Douglas has created several small and large scale master plans for

communities, cities and industrial complexes using “new” and “old” urbanism practices. His design

diversity extends beyond real estate and includes automotive, medical products and sustainable

energy infrastructure earning several patents. Douglas has developed marketing materials including

logos, graphic arts, brochures, signage and selecting / executing media placement buys for target

market capture.

INDUSTRIAL DESIGN / GRAPHIC ARTS

Douglas has created this specific section to high light embedded skills and experience which are not

readily evident in his resume. Many skills and abilities in graphic arts and industrial design /

fabrication are folded into his professional career through execution of projects which required these

skills as an overall strategy to obtain a specific objective. While formal training is not prevalent in his

education in these areas, his experience is varied, self taught and gained through creating successful

award winning “real world” projects.

Art

Fine art painting (oil and acrylic on canvas, wall board, wood and steel), pen & ink drawings,

sculpting in wood, metal and resin. Douglas has competed in art competitions in several

mediums and have several items in corporate office settings.

Architectural faux painting - Several custom room finishes have been created including faux wall

and trim finishes. These are obtained by multi-layered paints, stains and glazes utilizing brushes,

sponges, spray guns and/or cloth.

Graphic Arts

Logos, name creation, brochures, graphics & effects, photographic effects, media buys, events,

promotions, presentations, media documentaries, etc. Packages for over 16 companies and

agencies have been developed in conjunction to community redevelopment recruiting, business

image positioning, events and promotions. These have ranged from collector series of event

posters to business cards to multi-page brochures to highway billboards to celebrity

endorsements. Image development included name crafting, creating color pallets, selecting paper

grades & weights, finishes and textures, printing processes, etc…

Custom airbrush murals and award winning “candy” paint jobs have been performed on a variety

of cars, trucks and boats. These have been shot with lacquers, enamels, base coat – clear coat

polyurethanes. These paint jobs have been on national award winning vehicles and featured in

multiple publications.

Design - Architectural, Automotive, Mechanical

Architecture - Douglas has designed over a hundred residential homes, apartments, condos,

townhomes and garden homes. Commercial and industrial projects have included restaurants,

carwashes, convenience stores, office complexes, office condos, industrial manufacturing

buildings and office / warehouse structures. Douglas has master planned themed housing,

commercial and industrial complexes. Most projects also included renderings, graphics and

marketing packages.

Automotive designs include stylized classics and new concept vehicles. These designs include

body, interiors, chassis and drive trains. Designs include performance tuning for competition.

Mechanical systems include several food production and high output cooking processes. Two of

these designs are in full production and sales by the client company.

Douglas has design and constructed various stage sets for theater production, museum displays

and booth displays for professional and trade shows.

Industrial Design / Prototypes

Douglas has owned and operated a business incubator facility and provided product consulting for

tenants. Douglas has operated a Small Business Development Center (SBDC) which was based

on delivering services such as one-on-one consulting and hands on work with over 100 small and

emerging businesses. These activities included design, fabrication and production assistance.

Products ranged from food product production to metal plating to fabric construction.

Fabrication

Materials - Metal, wood, fiberglass, plastics, concrete and stone.

Products - Furniture, automotive, construction (residential to industrial), historic materials

restoration / preservation, and production machinery.

Equipment Operations – MIG welder, acetylene torches, plasma cutter, stick welder, mill, lathe,

drill press, band and radial arm saws, plating, anodizing, air tools, spray equipment, wood and

metal fabrication equipment and vacuum plastic molding. Douglas has built many custom

machines / systems for product production ranging from finger joint gang saws to production jigs.

Mold Construction – Small and large scale projects, latex transfer molding, wax, wood blanks,

fiber glass, plaster.

Custom Vehicles and Restorations - I started automotive interests at the age of 14 with his first

project car, which after two years of work won first place in the junior custom division of the

prestigious Cleveland Car Show. Subject vehicles have ranged from Jaguars to Porsches to

Cobras to Custom Street Rods. From this start Douglas, has been known for 40 years for award

winning paint and fabrications. Custom cars and restorations have been featured in several

national publications.

Patents

Involvement has included writing patent claims, building operating models and drawings for patent

support. Douglas has built working proof-of-concept models for several inventors. Additionally,

Douglas has filed several patent applications for his own inventions. These applications included

narratives with claims, drawings and models.

Douglas started automotive interests at the

Recognized as top paint shop by Sickens Paints, a major international automotive paint

With over thirty years of street rod activities, Douglas has judged street rod shows

and developed local events in cooperation with chambers of commerce, cities and

“Good Guys” national car resort organization. Douglas has created over thirty trophies

for the events and recognized by Good Guys as a top awards contributor.
