DCCD ENGINEERING CORPORATION

History of the Company

From the end of World War II to the 1950's, engineering consultancy in the

Philippines was the domain of in-house engineers and goernment engineers! "he

time was ripe for introducing the concept of integrated engineering serices to the

goernment and priate sectors! "his initiatie was ta#en $y seeral men from

%niersity of the Philippines &ollege of ngineering, who, haing returned from

studies and training a$road, were eager to merge theory and practice! In 195(, they

formed the )&&) ngineering &orporation, an all-Filipino consulting firm, the first

of its #ind in the country!

"he &ompany's first pro*ects, howeer, were far from modest! +ow this came

a$out is a treasured part of the company lore! In the late 50's $efore )&&) was

incorporated, )ean lfredo uinio, together with other %P engineering professors, had

designed the first thinshell concrete dome in the Philippines for the &hapel of the

+oly .acrifice at %!P! n auspicious presence in this pro*ect was that of /r! Fernando

o$el de yala, who was commissioned to render the church's mural paintings! +e

was impressed with the competence of the team that when the o$els em$ar#ed on

deeloping /a#ati as a $usiness district, )&&) ngineering &orporation was assured

of a ery actie part in the underta#ing! It was as#ed to design the master plan of

yala .u$diision's sewerage system!

In the first decade also, eighty percent of the $uildings along yala enue

were designed $y )&&) wherein the first true high-rise $uilding, the lialde

2uilding was $uilt! 3er the ne4t ten years, )&&) esta$lished its name and its client

$ase!

)uring the late 0's, oerseas and foreign-funded pro*ects started coming in!

mong these were the integrated engineering serice for the ccelerated 6ice

6esearch Institute in oydepur, ast Pa#istan 78ow 2angladesh and pro*ects funded$y the sian )eelopment 2an# 7)2, the International 2an# for 6econstruction

and )eelopment 7I26), and the %!.! gency for International )eelopment

7%.I)!

2y 19(5, )&&) had won a place among the country's top 1000 corporations!

)&&) weathered the economic crisis of the mid-:0's that caught the whole country in

its grip $y underta#ing design wor#s for roads, $ridges, irrigation, water systems, and

other pro*ects for $oth local and foreign deelopers! "he %!.! )epartment of )efense

commissioned the firm to wor# on merican military installations pro*ects $ased in

the country!

"elstar /anufacturing &orporation Pro*ect in

a pharmaceutical plant at the @aguna

"echnopar#! It is a two-storey $uilding with a

total floor area of a$out AA,000 s;uare meters

which is designed to produce household

products and e4ternal medicines! side from

the manufacturing area, the plant has areas for

administration and warehousing!
