G Corner Operational StructureSYSTEMS
CORNER
• A DC or Direct Current busbar system carries electricalcurrent around a plant when AC or Alternating Currentcan not be used.
• These systems usually carry very large electrical currentsof between 15,000 Amps and 100,000 Amps
• Due to the large currents involved the systems use heavysections of copper to conduct the electricity
• With the heavy sections of copper involved a significantsupports structure is required.
• Systems can also be manufactured from Aluminium
What is a DC Busbar System?SYSTEMS
CORNER
• DC Busbar systems are used extensively inthe refining of chlorine
• This refining produces a number ofproducts such as:– Caustic Soda– Liquid Chlorine– Chlorine Dioxide
• These products are used in a number ofareas such as for the production of bleachwhich is used to treat wood pulp for newsprint
• For example MSS India has supplied aBusbar system to Tamil Nadu Pulp andPaper Ltd for their new bleaching plant ICI Chlorine Electrolyser Refinery

• DC Busbar Systems are used inall base metal refineries forthe production of metals suchas:– Copper
– Cobalt
– Nickel
– Zinc
• MSS India has also worked ona number of these projects inSouthern Africa and NorthAmerica.
