I hereby declare that my child is in good health and has no mental or physical condition or symptoms that could interfere with her/his safety or the safety of others while participating in any activity using any equipment or facilities of the University of Dayton. Furthermore, I certify that my child has adequate health insurance to cover any injury or damage that they may suffer while participating, or alternatively, agree to bear all costs associated with any such injury or damages to her/him. I, the undersigned, do hereby release, hold harmless, indemnify, waive, and discharge the University of Dayton and all its officers, agents, and employees from and against any and all claims, demands, actions or causes of action arising from any injuries or damages my child may suffer or sustain from her/his participation in, or use of, any facility, equipment, and/or programs. MEDICAL WAIVERIn consideration of participation in the University of Dayton softball camp as described herein, and having actual knowledge and appreciation of the particulars of the program and those risks involved in this type of activity/program, I, on behalf of my child, voluntarily consent to use of the facilities and participation in the activities/programs at this site, and assume all the risks arising therefrom.

Each camp is run by the University of Dayton Softball Coaches who are on-site and provide instruction throughout the duration of camp. They may be assisted by current/former Flyer student-athletes as well as other coaches from around the country. No camp session will have a camper to counselor ratio higher than 10:1.

ABOUT THE FLYER SOFTBALL ACADEMYFACILITIESAcademy participants will train and play at the UD Softball Stadium along the banks of the Great Miami River. The stadium features complete batting cages, bullpen and a natural playing surface that caters to 500-plus spectators.

WHAT TO BRING / WEARPractice clothes, helmet, softball glove, softball bat (optional) sneakers/cleats, water bottle and sunscreen. It is required that pitchers bring their own catcher (parent/guardian or peer with signed waiver). Catchers must supply their own gear.

INDIVIDUALIZED ATTENTIONThe Academy allows for a hands on experience with direct feedback from the coaching staff. Players will learn and develop their abilities with a player/coach ratio of no more than 10 to 1 allowing for greater development and individualized help.

CAMP FEES INCLUDET-shirt, handouts, instruction, evaluation and mental aspects of the game.

MEDICAL CAREA member of the University of Dayton athletic training staff will be present during each session. Medical waiver forms must be completed prior to registration.

CANCELATIONThere is a $20 non-refundable fee in case of cancelation for the camps for processing fees.

June 19-22, 2017 Grades K-6 / 9 a.m. to Noon

Our goal is to stimulate a love for the game and build self confidence while providing strategies for failure recovery. We provide age-appropriate drill work and game play to improve each camper’s skills. Participants will make new friends and have a lot of fun.

Camp staff will consist of current members of the Dayton coaching staff and Flyer players, past and present. All clinicians will serve as positive role models while demonstrating strong character and an emphasis on camper safety.

Cost: $120

Tuesday, July 18Grades 7-12, Pitchers recommended to have 3+ yrs experience / 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Pitchers will be instructed on proper mechanics, increasing velocity, troubleshooting, and proper care of the shoulder. The concepts of command, velocity, change of speed, and deception will be emphasized and enhanced through skill instruction.

The catching camp will focus on proper techniques along with developing an understanding of pitch calling strategy, game management and team management.

Cost: $80 for pitching / $60 for catching

Wednesday, July 19Grades 7-12 / 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. This day camp will provide an experience similar to that of a UD student-athlete and is designed for athletes who desire intensive and in-depth instruction. This camp will break down the defensive skills of all positions. Key mechanics of the swing and game day At Bat process will also be covered to better enhance each athlete’s offensive success.

During a catered lunch, a mental training session will be conducted with additional points of emphasis including leadership development, confidence enhancement,

failure recovery, nutrition education and communication strategies to assist campers in maximizing their softball IQ.
