Learning center academics

Our Learning Center offers independent-study-like courses for students needing credits toward an AdultHighSchoolDiploma, or for ConcurrentHighSchoolstudentsneedingcredits toward their home-school High School Diploma. The courses offered are at Standard level and meet the California State Standards. Upon successful completion, the student will receive five credits per class, unless otherwise noted. Students take courses via the APEX online learning system, completing assignments at home and taking tests in our Learning Center. Each student meets with a credentialed teacher periodically in the Learning Center, by appointment. Some courses are available using the online APEX system.

ConcurrentHighSchoolStudentsMore info:ConejoAdultSchool.orgClickHighSchoolandBeyond.

A student must be enrolled in a Conejo Valley Unified School District high school in order to enroll concurrently in our school’s Learning Center courses; the student must be referred by the high school’s counselor.

A completed ConejoValleyAdultSchoolConcurrentStudentRegistrationForm must be signed by student, parent, and counselor. The student and parent should deliver the completed form to the Adult School during normal business hours, and register for the class(es) assigned by the high school counselor. There is no fee to take a course. An Adult School teacher will then contact the student to arrange for a mutually convenient individual orientation appointment.

The teacher will meet with the student for up to 1 hour per week, explaining subject matter, answering questions, administering tests and assigning further work. The student may work at home or at the Learning Center. A time limit will be set for completion of the course.

HighSchoolDiploma

An alternative to an Adult High School Diploma is earning a High School Equivalency (HSE) Certificate by passing the GED or HiSET test. We offer formal HiSET equivalency Prep Classes mornings and evenings. A student should make an appointment with counselor Mr. Kane at 818-203-0826 to discuss the program and options best tailored to his or her needs.
