    MISSION PROPERTYPURCHASED

The land has been purchasedand the fo un datio n s tarted fo rthe mission home in Nagoya. Thereasons for purchasing this part icular piece of land were several, among which was the opportunityit presented for living and preaching in a Chris tless community, and secondly, the City ownedproperty was much cheaper thanany we had previously considered.

You, our co-labors, made i tpossible for us to take advantageof this opportunity when it arose, through your gifts and prayers.Your support and backing hasbeen splendid, and we are deeplygrateful. May the Lord richlybless you as you continue toServe Him, is our prayer.

year old girl and2^ her y rotherare1- ^children of Buddhistparents. Their lives

were b egun in idolworship, they arelearning to bringand toss their offerings before the

centuries old idols of bronze, and then, kneeling, bow unt il the ir t iny foreheadstouch the floor.

These two little ones are typical ofJapan s millions, who are being schooled in the heathen religions, holding tothem mainly becau se o f the customsand practices handed down to them bytheir forefathers. Yet Japan offei s oneof the greatest opportunities to Christianity today. In spite of the activeopposition from Buddhists and Shinto-ists, these little ones and the ir paren tsc an be reached an d w on to Chr is tThe section of Nagoya called Naka-mura-ku is without any touch with

    f W ] r

Christ a t all. It is reported to us tobe extremely hostile to Christianity ,but since it is one of the most needyw e feel this is w here C hrist w ouldhave us begin work.

The Buddha p ictu red here sits withhis hand extended, palm up , like abeggar in the m arket. I t is as if tosay, give , yet his empty shell hasnothing to give in return t o h is devotees.

Jesus said, Suffer the little childrento com e unto me. Chris t loved th eselittle ones and he placed the responsibility, upon all who claim the nameChristian , to tell them the preciousstory o f His coming.

In this heathen land, on every handwe see the idols, the temples, and theshrines, but over i t a l l we hear thevoice of Christ callingthe answer willdepend upon the Christians in Americ a and Japanwhich will it be?

The purchase of the mission propertyin Nagoya ran true to Japanese form. The land was selected, the purchaseprice paid, the deed officially sealed, then the next requirement was to s eekpermission from the Japanese Government to buy land.

The tuition for them is62. per month or 560. per year. Weare required to pay this in two payments of 280. in September and January. The payment has not beenmade as yet but we trust God willsupply the need as He sees fit.

This privelege relieves us of theresponsibility of teaching our childrenat home and enables us to takeadvantage of many more of the opportunities to serve Christ here inNagoya.

Yoshie S anYoshie Konichi, baptized July 21st atthe Asahi Church of Christ, becamethe first convert of the Nagoya Christian Mission. Having worked in thehome of the Davises f or s eve ra l months, she had many opportunities to hearand study God s word and from the

darkness of uddhism she came to seeJesus clearly as the Light of theWorld . Her request to become aChristian was purely voluntary, as hasbeen her help in the cliristian services. As soon as services are opened in ournew home she will have opportunityto further serve her Master withKathryn in the childrens work. Becausethis young lady has become a part ofour every day life and very dear tous we rejoice greatly in her decisionto serve Christ .: Do you keep up with the current Missionary News in Among Our- se lves ?
