Folks: As we have mentioned, there are three U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Emergency PreparednessExercises taking place in June, July, and September. All ERT team members will be participating. These aremandatory events. As such, if you have been assigned to a selected exercise date(s), they are block out daysand are not available for any other activity or "day off' (i.e., vacation, personal leave,etc).

Preliminary drill/training in May and additional information will be provided (dates TBA). However, for now, you

need to schedule the following days for these exercises.

David Howe facilitated the meeting, beginning at 10:00 am in the RPS Lab.

* This committee includes management staff, lead workers and mentors.

Meeting Summary

David identified the goal of the Training Committee (to develop a formaltraining plan), and gave an overview of current RPS sources/methods oftraining (courses, mentoring, position assignments, and projects), the threephases of learning/training (awareness, knowledge, internalization), and theSARA (survey, analysis, response, and assessment) model of projectmanagement. The committee then formulated training and developmentgoals (an integrated written training plan for new employees and on-goingstaff development, and desired outcomes including producing a competentemployee, improved product delivery/customer service, enhanced publicsafety, and liability protection) and Training Committee objectives (developwritten procedures, document performance competency, broaden areas ofstaff expertise, ensure staff have needed equipment, and develop multi-leveltraining curriculum).

Committee member assignments for the next meeting were given:1) Margaret to assemble prior Training Committee material copies;2) Margaret and Steve to review X-Ray Inspection written procedures,

Kevin to review RML Inspection written procedures, and Phil to review* Tanning Inspection written procedures [21 CFR- machine testing,IP87XXX, and 21 CFR 1040.20 respectfully]; for possible integrationwith NRC, FDA, CRCPD, NCRP, AAPM procedures;

4. Ensure employees have appropriate or needed equipment/tools to do job,

ie, calibrated and quantity

5. Develop a multilevel training curriculum (written).
