David Cal is a Spanish athlete, he competes in canoeing.He has got a gold medal and four silver medals in three participations in the Olympics (Athens-2004, Beijing-2008,London-2012), and other global and European medals.It became the Spanish athlete to achieve more Olympic medals in the Olympics in 2012 his fifth medal, silver medal in 1000 metros.1 C1He was a finalist for the Prince of Asturias Award for Sports 2013

BIOGRAPHY

David Cal was born October 10th, 1982 in Pontevedra, Galicia (Spain)

His sporting life has revolved around his club, which competes nationally through the Gallego Center Sports (from 14 years old) , in which he worked with different coaches , to know their past and present coach , Jesus Morlan.

Cal participated in the 2004 Olympics in the men's individual category in tests 500 and 1000 meters in canoe.

In the 2008 Olympics of Beijing he participated in C1 500 and C1 1000m , winning in both tests silver. He was also the champion of the Spanish team in the opening ceremony. At London 2012 , he won the silver medal.

In the 2011 World Championship he won a silver medal in C1 1000 m while in the 2012 European Championships he was fifth in the same discipline and C1 winning bronze in 500 m .

ABOUT THE SPORT Canoeing is a water sport that is practiced on a light

boat, usually made of fiberglass or plastic.

The boat is propelled by one, two or four (but not three) with an oar.

Competitions are usually done in the summer months, however, trainings are held throughout the year. It is divided into categories according to age and sex. The age division that sets the distance rows in each category (the distance increases as you go up category).
