David’s Journey Through Time…
… The Way I Remember It
Let’s start at the beginning…
There once was a young man named Earl…
One day, Earl went shopping. He needed a couple of shirts, socks, and some pants. He found all of them at a particular store where there was a particular fine lady working behind the counter… He asked her “Would you measure my inseam?”
Left leg or right leg?
Learning his pant size was 32x30, they quickly got married…
Bev was born shortly thereafter. Mom and Dad didn’t have a lot of money, so they had to keep her in a drawer…
Three years later, after a painting accident, I was born…
Bev and I had such a blast being our parents’ kids…
I’m so happy!
No, I’m so happy!
No, I’m so happy!
No, I’m so happy!
Shut Up!
No You Shut Up!
Help!
While vacationing in Florida, Mom and Dad broke the news. Mom was pregnant. Bev was so excited. She always wanted a little brother. I… wasn’t too pleased…
I am not too pleased
Baby Brother
David is about a month old here, and I was still having a hard time adjusting
I am having a hard time
adjusting
After Dad yelled at me “YOU WILL LIKE YOUR LITTLE BROTHER”, I decided “OK”.I mean, it could be worse…
This could be worse
I like him
…Mom kept him pretty clean…
…He liked picnics… This was all going pretty well!
I think I like him
…But I soon realized, I couldn’t go anywhere without this kid following me…
Stop following me!
I couldn’t even get a hug from my Mom without him needing one too!
I soon discovered the following equationD∆Me=H x ∏
Height
Probability of getting away from David
So the only way I could get away from this kid was to go up…
Alone at last!
Bev and I decided, once David was potty trained, we would make a concerted effort to try to like him
Look ma, No Hands!
Actually, he was turning into a pretty cute kid, and he had a huge variety of interests:
He liked music…
… loved boats…
…He always had a loving paternal instinct…
I think I will have a July wedding so I can tell my family
at Hanukah my future wife and I
are pregerrs
When the recession hit in the ‘80s, David really took it hard…
He became reclusive
David started coming home from hebrew school drunk
We constantly found him passed out in his bed
And quite honestly, in junior high, he started experimenting in drugs
“ Far Out Dude”
He started hanging out with some weird friends…
And David turned violent
Mom was stunned by his behavior
I am stunned
Dad and I decided, if he wasn’t going to shape up, we were going to take matters in our own hands
Look how tough we are
But soon, David started reading the Torah, and his life turned around
He started doing his homework again
He started dating girls
He joined the band
And he started traveling
And, yes, he finally graduated from high school
Once David left for college, Mom and Dad didn’t know anything to do other than dance!
Alone at last!
Now, we knew at a very young age David wanted to be on television
Unfortunately, he was always stuck behind the camera
Do I have a face for radio?
So after graduating college, David went to Houma, La to become a disk jockey playing “Oldies But Goodies”
Mom could often be found listening to his doo wap shows
But David could always be seen praying for a better radio career in sports
Dear Lord, get me a job doing play
by play for a winning football
team
His prayers were finally answered
David became the voice of the Nicholls State Colonels
Here is a picture of Bev and Dad after David called to say Nicholls would be “really good this year!”
Mom loved sitti ng beside David while he did his play by play. But she could never understand why she could never hear him?
These go around my ears? I just don’t get
technology!
This is my favorite picture of David. He is handsome, has caring eyes, is proud, and intelligent.
But best of all, He is my brother…
Well they built the Titanic to be one of a kind, but many ships have ruled the seas. They built the Eiffel Tower to stand alone, but they could build another if they please. Taj Mahal, the pyramids of Egypt, are unique I suppose, but when they built you, brother, they broke the mold.
Now the world is filled with many wonders under the passing Sun, and sometimes something comes along and you know it's for sure the only one. The Mona Lisa, the David, the Sistine Chapel, Jesus, Mary, and Joe. And when they built you, brother, they broke the mold
When they built you, brother, they turned dust into goldWhen they built you, brother, they broke the mold
