    Strengths

    There is a good demand for the courses offered by the department

    Majority of the Students are belongs to the SC, ST and OBC communities and

    hence contributing to the social inclusion.

    Department has the Human Resources with better skills in Quantitative

    Techniques and Econometrics.

    The University Jurisdiction has the good number of feeding colleges

    Weaknesses

    Scarcity of Permanent Teachers

    Majority of the students admitted to the department are from rural area and are

    from Kannada medium. Hence Majority of them are finding it difficult to cop up

    with course.

    Opportunities

    Department has the better opportunity to design the courses related to Quantitative

    techniques and econometric which have better opportunities in the market.

    The department has opportunity to design the skill oriented courses like applied

    econometrics

    Davangere being business Centre, the department has an opportunity to design

    courses like business economics

    Threats

    Declining interest towards arts disciple due to declining employment

    opportunities.

    Intended to train the students for competitive Examinations like U.G.C and NET

    To introduce computer lab and Spoken English Classes to all Semesters and

    improve their Communication Skills.

    To conduct films shows related economics topics apart from regular teaching.

    Strengths:

    The new department run by guest faculty is taking individual interest in

    training the students in the subject matter as well as coaching them in other

    activities. The department aims at 100% result and preparing them for job

    market to perform better than students of other institutions.

    No permanent faculty.

    Inadequate infrastructure

    Opportunities and Challenges

    There is an enough scope for employment.

    Students of the department stand better chance of success in various

    competitive examinations.

    52. Future plans of the department:

    To have syllabus relating to competitive examinations, UGC and NET.

    To introduce Computer lab and Language lab to all the semesters and

    improve their speaking and communications skills.

    To Conduct Film Shows related to every paper apart from regular teaching.
