FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Village of Ansley offers energy efficiency programs for 2020-21
The Village of Ansley, in partnership with its wholesale
electric power supplier, the Municipal Energy Agency of
Nebraska, is continuing to provide four energy efficiency
programs to assist in lowering energy costs for local utility
customers through energy efficiency improvements.
The programs offer cash incentives to make energy
efficient upgrades in the areas of insulation, cooling systems,
home thermostats and commercial lighting. The programs are
available through March 31, 2021 or while program funds
last. Here is a rundown of the four programs:
Smart Thermostat Program
Provides a cash incentive of up to $100 paid directly to
residential customers to help cover the cost of installing a
qualifying smart thermostat.
Attic Insulation Program
Provides cash incentives of $0.15 / per square foot with a
maximum incentive of $300 per existing residential dwelling
for attic insulation.
Cooling System Tune-Up Program
Provides a $30 cash incentive to residential homeowners
who have their cooling system tuned up by a HVAC
contractor, regardless of what type or age of cooling system
(air conditioner/air or water source heat pump).
Commercial LED Lighting Program
Provides cash incentives paid directly to commercial
customers to help cover the cost of interior lighting upgrades
and replacements.
These programs are available to customers of the Village
of Ansley through its wholesale power partnership with the
Municipal Energy Agency of Nebraska. For more
information on these programs, contact Bill Moser at Ansley
Utilities or go to www.nmppenergy.org/mean to download
program guidelines and application forms.
Important Notice....
The Ansley Pool will also be closed July 11th and July 16th due to lack of employees available.

NATIONAL PINA COLADA DAY – July 10
July 10th recognizes a sweet, rum-based cocktail on National Pina Colada Day. Along with rum, a Pina Colada includes cream of coconut and pineapple juice and is usually served blended or shaken with ice. Pina Colada means ‘strained pineapple,’ a reference to the freshly pressed and strained pineapple juice used in the drink.
While pineapple has been a part of the distillation history of rum, coconut didn’t show up until later. The first written reference to a pina colada was in 1922. However, two different claims to the invention of the pina colada in 1952 come from San Juan. Neither wavers from their story. No matter who created the first creamy, sweet rum drink, it is forever infused with the ocean and beaches. The cocktail’s bright flavor suggests sunshine and vacation. Coconut alone makes us think of suntans while the pineapple’s freshness delivers a sparkling note of summer breezes. The beverage isn’t the only way to celebrate either. The day is dedicated to all things pina colada. Whether we make a dessert or snack on pina colada jelly beans, everyone can join in the day. Put on your sunglasses, kick back, and enjoy a sip or a taste. It’s the best way to celebrate. HOW TO OBSERVE #NationalPinaColadaDay Try a frozen popsicle treat or a pina colada cake. You do not have to be sitting on a beach or the deck of a cruise ship to celebrate this holiday. You can enjoy a nice tall, cool Pina Colada where ever you are! (Remember to drink responsibly and never drink and drive!) Use #NationalPinaColadaDay to share on social media.

UPDATE TO ANSLEY RESIDENTS: The
Village has received a grant for GIS mapping of
our water system. This will provide very detailed
mapping of water mains, curb stops, shut offs,
water valves, meter pits, fire hydrants etc. with
the capability of showing additions and changes
to the system well into the future. The project
must be completed and paid for by the end of this
calendar year before the Village is eligible for
reimbursement with the grant funds. Utility
Superintendent Bill Moser has completed the
area north of Main Street from the railroad
tracks east, and plans to start marking
locations the week of July 6th on the south side
of Main Street from the railroad tracks east
with pink flags and pink paint.

VILLAGE OF ANSLEY BOARD OF TRUSTEES will have two positions open for the election in November, 2020. Incumbents must file by July 15, 2020, and new filers by August 3, 2020. Please remember you must stop by the Village office to pay the $10 filing fee first so you can take your receipt with you to the County Clerk’s Office where you complete the filing forms. The terms of office are 4 years commencing in December, 2020. Call the Village office at 935-1467 with any questions.
When this second quadrant is completed our
engineering firm Miller & Associates of
Kearney will come in with a drone to record all
the locations in that quadrant for the permanent
mapping system. The NW quadrant of Ansley
which included everything north of Main
Street from the railroad tracks east has been
completed so residents in that area can now
remove the pink flags. FOR RESIDENTS
ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF MAIN STREET
PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE THE PINK
FLAGS MARKING LOCATIONS ON OR
NEAR YOUR PROPERTY! We realize
mowing season has started, but once the
Engineers have been in and recorded everything
in the south side quadrant, we will provide an
update that area has been completed and Bill
will move to the final area which will be
everything west of the railroad tracks. The
Village will really appreciate your cooperation
of leaving the flags in place to avoid doubling
the work by having to remark. If you have any
questions please call the utility department at
935-1400 or the Village office at 935-1467.
