Calling All Leaders
Have you ever thought about taking a leadership role with the PTA? Room parents, this is a great way to
become involved at a school-wide level. PTA volunteers, consider getting more involved by serving as a
Director, VP, or Officer.
PTA Leaders’ time investment is a few hours each month, depending on the position. Officers and VPs must
attend Board Meetings which are usually held one Friday each month at 10am. If you are unable to attend
these Board Meetings, you can still serve as a Director or Committee Chairperson. Working parents make
great leaders, too!
Do you love what the PTA leadership has done so far this year? Do you think the leadership team could have
done better? This is your chance to speak up. Help us to continue our tradition of providing exemplary support
to Brookwood Elementary. Watch for more information in next week’s Bobcat Buzz.
Inclement Weather Day and itsLearning
We had so many Bobcats logging on to our first real inclement weather day on itsLearning that we almost
brought down the system! Thank you for your patience and the time you spent
supporting your children as they completed their lessons. Remember, your students
have until next Thursday, February 26, to complete their lessons. If you are having
difficulty with the site, please refer to the Bobcat Bytes for Parents for assistance or
contact the classroom teacher or Maureen Paluzzi, Brookwood ITS.

Family Education Night Sign Up
Dear Parents,
On March 5, the Brookwood staff will be hosting a Family Education Night from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and we
hope you will consider joining us. The link below can be used to sign up for sessions across the grade levels.
The teachers have done much hard work and good thinking to design sessions that they thought would help
parents better understand the curriculum and support their children at school. You will see, as you peruse the
sessions, that there is something for everyone. Child care will be provided by our wonderful specials staff.
Please use the link to sign up for sessions and you will receive your schedule upon arrival to the school that
evening. In order to manage the number of participants in the segments, you will need to sign up ahead of
time and follow the schedule you are assigned. Parents who arrive without having chosen sessions ahead of
time will be assigned to sessions based on available space.

FCS Parents: GADOE School Climate Survey Open Until 2/27/15
Public schools in Georgia are evaluated on the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) using survey data from students, school personnel and parents to calculate the School Climate Star Rating. The Parent survey, which will end 2/27/15, is below:

Parents with children at multiple schools must complete one survey per school.
Parents can complete the survey using their personal computers, smartphones, or iPads. For parents that do
not have access to the Internet, please contact your school. Survey responses are anonymous and will be
submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis.

donating the proceeds to Brookwood Elementary.
Jump Rope for Heart
In support of February as National Heart month, our Brookwood Bobcats will be focusing on learning new
jump roping skills and how we can keep our hearts healthy. We will be covering this through fun lessons in
our regularly scheduled P.E. classes, so no separate event is needed. Collecting donations for the American
Heart Association is completely optional, but for students who choose to raise money there are really cool
“thank you” prizes that can be earned. All donation packets (along with printouts of online donations) are
due FEBRUARY 27.
General PTA Meeting
Join us for a general PTA meeting this Tuesday at 2:45 p.m. During this meeting, we will elect the
Nomination Committee who will choose the slate of candidates for next year’s PTA Leadership team.

Coke Rewards Program Has Changed
The Coke Rewards program has recently changed. If you’re collecting Coke Points for the school, log in your
codes online to a personal account, and transfer the points to Brookwood Elementary PTA. We will redeem the
points for cash for the school!
If you’d rather send in your Coke Rewards to the school (without logging them in), go ahead. We will put
them to good use!

Daddy Daughter Dance Candid Photos UPDATE
We've heard a few complaints about the cost of shipping for the candid pictures taken by Ananchel. We have
negotiated another option: low-resolution files that can be emailed to you. You can print them up to 4x6 in
size. Now it's your choice: you can have the picture emailed to avoid the shipping charge, or you can have it
printed and shipped with the $5.50 shipping charge. Next year, we will look into renting the backdrop and
props so everyone can take pictures from their own cameras and cell phones. Hopefully, this'll provide a better
solution. In the meantime, if you want to order candid pictures to be shipped to you, visit

candid pictures to be emailed, visit the site above, note the image number, and call Ananchel at 770-831-
0078. Ananchel will take your credit card information and email address over the phone, and they will email
