WELCOME TO TERM 4!!!
It is so nice to see the sun shining…and even more wonderful to see all our fabulous students returning to school looking refreshed and ready to go for an amazing term of learning! Across the school students will be studying Mini Beasts in one form or another and I cannot wait to see what incredible things they show and tell me about as part of their learning. There are so many students here who love to share what they learn and I encourage you all at home to ask them not just “How was your day?” but “What did you learn today?” or “What’s the creepiest crawliest mini beast you have learnt about so far?” Maybe you even find one or two in the garden! A huge congratulations to those students that made it to Divisional Athletics, you all did our school super proud! Congratulations to Ava, and Lachie who go onto the next level (Regional) next Thursday.

PARENT INFORMATION BULLETIN – Term 4
Grades F, 1 & 2 – Week 2 Commencing – Monday 15th October
Numeracy Students will be revisiting counting and sequencing numbers, and place value
Students will be revisiting counting and sequencing numbers, and place value. Students will be;
• Developing their understanding of units, tens, hundreds and thousands, and placing numbers into the correct columns
• Ordering numbers
• Writing numbers in expanded form A home activity you could do with your child this week could be to get your child to find a number and ask them to identify the value of each digit.
Literacy Reading Writing Spelling Students will be working on a range of activities focusing on the development of word choice.
Reading: Students will be listening to the teacher read Charlotte’s Web, they will make a Venn Diagram describing the similarities and differences between the characters using the two text types (book/movie).
A home activity you could do with your child this week could be to choose a character from a book or movie and discuss the features of that character.
Writing: Students will be developing their characters within a narrative. They will be focusing on what their character looks like and exploring the characters features. Students will be;
• Developing a character for their narrative, describing its features and likes/ dislikes
• Using adjectives to describe their character
• Writing a paragraph using all the information about the character A home activity you could do with your child this week could be write the features of a character from a book or movie.
Spelling: Students will be revisiting verbs and adjectives based on the characters from “Charlotte’s Web” A home activity you could do to support your child’s development would be to write down adjectives and verbs from a favourite character chosen from a book or Movie.

Students will be exploring minibeasts and discussing “what is a minibeast?” Students will then classify minibeasts according to their features.

Topic – Chance and Probability This week students are working on using words, decimals, fractions and percentages in relation to how likely or unlikely events are going to happen. Home Activity-Discuss the likelihood of things happening during the day. E.g. What are the chances of the queen visiting us at home.
Literacy Students will be working on a range of activities based on their assessment data Reading , Writing, Spelling
Reading- Students will be working on word formality and the author’s purpose of using particular words. Writing- Students will be understanding the text structure of a narrative and using alliteration to make their writing more interesting, They will be looking at the story about A Date with a Dung Beetle. Spelling- Students will looking at onomatopoeia. We will be completing activities around this concept. Home Activity – Discuss what onomatopoeia is and come up with some examples of it together.
