All year levels are well and truly into the swing of Term 2 and as I visit the classes its great to see students engaged in their learning, with most keen to share their work with pride. There are a number of excursions and incursions coming up later in the term to complement the Inquiry Based Units of work. These include visits to Parliament House ( Year 6) Polly Woodside (Year 4) , Wacky Weather Day (Year 1), Time Machine Day (Year 3) My Place (Prep). The Year 5 students had a very interesting excursion to Churchill Island last week! We look forward to sharing these experiences with you in upcoming issues of our newsletter. The Year 9 students have completed their Careers Counselling session facilitated by our Careers Counsellor consultant Jen Shultz. Feedback from both students and parents has been excellent regarding our comprehensive Careers and transition program . Congratulations to our Netball teams who competed last week in the annual St Margarets Cup tournament at St. Margarets school. Well done to our Academy Girls Netball team who were the overall winners of the Day 1 competition. They were undefeated all day, it was a fantastic effort. The cup is proudly on display in Reception. The Mixed team played on Thursday and they also did us proud they played with great enthusiasm and had a great day. The weather was fantastic, for the 28 schools participating in the 2 day event. Both our teams displayed excellent team work, it was wonderful to see the encouragement they showed each other. Well Done!!! Thank you very much to Jacqui Fleming and Jade Heinrich (Girls Academy team coaches) and Jess Mills (Mixed team coach) for coordinating and coaching our teams. Thank you also to the parents who came along to cheer on the teams, your support was very much appreciated. Student Leadership Course (Primary)

On Thursday the 22nd March we all went to the

Casey student leadership reception. This reception lots of inspiring leaders of Casey came to talk about how to be a better leader and how to inspire others to

be confident about themselves.—Kasia

In the middle of the reception three leaders who talked first was Simran Monga she talked about

multiculturalism and we are all different and unique. The next speak was Cranbourne East College

Breakfast Club, they told us about the importance of breakfast and how to be energized for school

– Charlie

After the Break Club was Sophie Weston. Sophie studied occupational therapy. She rode from

Canberra to Melbourne to raise money for her sister who had breast cancer. She taught us that things

might be hard sometimes but never give up. She also told us that anything, even if it’s the tiniest thing in

the world can help.– Rahni

Afterwards, Sam Webb, the co-founder of ‘Livin’ came onto the stage. He gave an inspiring speech about never giving up and staying positive and

because of his own bad experience, he wants to help people get through mental illness and miserable

times. Sam Webb also showed us this (see below) - Scarlett

Overall, the reception was very inspiring. It taught us what it is to be a leader and helped us become a

better version of ourselves. If you want to be a leader you must know that leaders don’t tell us how

to do it, they show us how it’s done.

The Alpha Show of Aladdin

To complement and support the Performing Arts program at Timbarra P-9 College Alpha Shows presented ‘Aladdin’ to a very appreciative and enthusiastic audience.

Aladdin was awesome. There were so many funny scenes. My favourite scene was when the Genie talked about what he felt like when he was feeling sad. He said it felt like when he ate to much KFC. We all laughed. Jayden, Brigid and Zack 2T

Aladdin was performed in a really funny and interesting way. The show’s messages were about always letting your feelings be known and how to be positive in your life. The set was really creative. We would love to see an-other show like that! Ava 5C and Alice 5T

I loved the Alpha show. It was very funny. Meera 5H I liked it when Aladdin and Jasmine got married. The show was so funny. Eliza 1P It was super exciting to go to the Alpha Show. I loved the magic carpet! William 1Y

The costumes and songs were really entertaining. The Genie was my favourite character because he was always being silly. Marliee 4H Aladdin has been one of my favourite Alpha Shows. The sword fights and dance moves were really cool. Declan 4H

We really loved the songs, music and the dancing. We all sang along with the actors. Isabella Prep S and Aarika Prep M

The acting was really good. I really liked how they performed the slow motion sword fight. Oscar Prep M

Aladdin was so much fun to watch. We really enjoyed how they made it look like the magic carpet was flying. It was very exciting when all of the actors were on stage at the end of the show. Eden and Heela Prep J

Salt ‘n’ Vinegar was such a funny character. The smoke coming out of the lamp for the Genie to appear was really exciting. Aleah 3E It was so funny when the character of Abu pretended to challenge everybody to fight her. Josh 4R

My favourite part of the Aladdin show was when the cast sang ‘make way for Prince Ali’ because it was just so funny. Oscar 2M

I thought the new songs they used in the performance were awesome and the performance was really well suited to all age groups. Hannah and Isabelle 5J

I liked how the performance included references to modern day figures and also used modern day dance moves, songs and apps. Gemma 6M My favourite character was the Genie because he was really funny and sarcastic. It was funny when he was holding a finishing rod with a fake bird attached to it to help us pretend that Jasmine and Aladdin were flying through the sky. Oscar 6M

The top 8 students in each age group have qualified for the Berwick District event on Tuesday May 8th.

Please note: At District level they combine the 9/10’s. A top 8 has been made by comparing times, and those students

will go to the district event. Therefore not all students listed will go to the district competition.

I love to run. It was my first race and I loved it. Jaweed 3R It was very challenging but I enjoyed it. I came 2nd and I was happy with my result as I tried my best. Ayana 6M

It was awesome to run and compete against each other. I am happy to get the fastest time in the school. Dallas 6M

I felt it was a little easier than last year. I was proud to come first. Scarlett 4H

I really enjoyed the Next Step day. It was a chance to see how high school students work. I really liked cooking and I liked how we got to see a toad and a rat in the Science lab.

Meyah B (6W)

I enjoyed doing Food Technology because we got to do Cupcake decorating and eat it at the end!

Harley B (6P)

It was really cool how we got to see what the high school students do. I really liked the House activities.

Oscar B (6M)

It was cool that we could do lots of activities for the Next Step day. I liked the Virtual Worlds in the Media room.

Isabelle Harper (6M)

My favourite activities were Food Technology and Science. I had an awesome time.

Blake T (6W)

An exciting journey began last week, when our Grade 6 students began exploring the next step in their educational journeys to secondary school! Participating in a range of new and fun activities that our high school has to offer, students got a taste of the new learning opportunities that await them just around the corner. Whether it was cooking up a storm in the kitchen, surging their way through circuits in the science lab or bridging the gap between the virtual world and reality; students have taken the first step into their futures!
