Mrs EssexTeamwork and the Monster Truck Group. Our Thursday monster truck group focused on building teamwork skills amongst the students.  Teamwork is an important skill for young children as it requires them to work cooperatively with other children towards a purpose that they share. Every member of a team has to respect each other’s opinions and abilities in order for the team to work effectively. Working as a team is very social, involving the exchanging of actions and ideas and a significant amount of interaction.   PIPS teachers are dedicated to ensuring each and every student is well adjusted in all aspects of society, not just within the curriculum.  Groups such as these can help students to develop those important social skills that will help improve their ability to communicate with others.

K/1/2The highlight of week 3 was enjoying our first Kids in the Kitchen session on Friday. Our class would like to thank the wonderful parent volunteers who helped make it a success. Richelle (Indi's mum), Terry (Illah and Bryice's dad), Jaime (Hunter's mum), Bec (Keegan and Sav's mum), Maree (Nathaniel's mum) and Carley (Cohen's mum).  Additionally a big shout out to Mrs Essex for organising the yummy recipes and ingredients. The food that we made was sold at the P&C cake stall at the Election. It was great to see so many children returning homework last week. Although no Hat Trick awards were presented, there were some students who were close! Fingers crossed for this week! This week information about News is being sent home with homework. Each week the news topic will link to the subject "Personal and Family Histories".  Please take note of what day your child's news is to be presented and assist them in preparing it as part of their homework. Kindy homework will now also include a Math revision activity as well as home reading and sight word practise. One more thing... children in K12 can now access the program Math Seeds by using their Reading Eggs log on. They are welcome to access it as home for additional Math consolidation. If your child needs their log on details please see us. Regards, Ms Clare and Mrs Wiseman

Teamwork also helps children feel like a part of a community and can help in all areas of learning. Communication, social, and emotional skills are all strengthened when children learn to work as a team, which can help improve self-esteem and confidence in kids. Some tips from the Learning Lodge, 2017. Regards, Mrs Essex
