    It is often useful to have a listing of the main composers of aparticular era. This list is of course not complete, and never will be.Some dates are speculative, and there may be disagreement in thesources, or new discoveries which change our knowledge. Perioddivisions can always be argued over, and differed from region toregion.I would appreciate it if readers could email me to fill in any glaringomissions, or to correct an error. This list was originally compiledwhen I was teaching some years ago, and there might be someimprovements necessary.
