I. After a quorum was established, the regular meeting was called to order by President Randy Darnell.

II. The Board entered into closed session under Texas Government Code Section 551.074 at 6:17 p.m. and reconvened at 6:36 p.m. for action related to the items discussed.

III. Ken Carriere introduced band and choir members for recognition by the board.

IV. Motion by Mr. Murphy, seconded by Mr. Short to approve January 14, 2013 and January 24, 2013 minutes as presented. Motion carried unanimously.

V. Mike Wartes shared today’s enrollment of 9131, with 87.50 ADA at semester.

VI. Mike Wartes reported that Friday, February 15 would be a half day for students with professional development for staff in the afternoon and Monday, February 18 would be a holiday for students and staff. The District Support Center will be open on Monday, February 8 from 9:00-3:00.

VII. Justin Richardson presented the STAAR results for Canyon ISD.

VIII. Caleb McClure shared information regarding the District Safety Task Force.

IX. Motion by Mr. Hinders, seconded by Mrs. Wiegand to approve the trustee election order as presented. Motion carried unanimously.

X. Motion by Mr. Spradlin, seconded by Mr. Cobb to approve the Monthly Financials for December 2012 as presented. Motion carried unanimously.

XI. Motion by Mrs. Hinders, seconded by Mr. Murphy to approve Board Facility Committee Recommendation to spend $3,328,450 for facility improvements as presented. Motion carried unanimously.

XII. Motion by Mr. Short, seconded by Mr. Cobb to approve budget amendment as presented. Motion carried unanimously.

XIII. Motion by Mrs. Hinders, seconded by Mr. Spradlin to award bids for athletic facilities to Hellas Construction as presented. Motion carried unanimously.

XIV. Motion by Mrs. Wiegand, seconded by Mr. Spradlin to accept the following donations with gratitude in accordance with board policy:

$500 from Education Credit Union Pocket Change Grant for biology department at Randall High

$1050.75 from Education Foundation grants for educational science games at Greenways Intermediate

recommendation to employ Laura Cotton for the remainder of the 2012-2013 school year with compensation as determined by the local salary schedule and subject to assignment by the Superintendent. Motion carried unanimously.

XVI. Motion by Mr. Cobb, seconded by Mrs. Wiegand to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried unanimously.
