Boost your attendance in March Year 8 and Year 10 We kindly ask Parents to support our attendance initiative for the month of March. In order to strengthen our already outstanding attendance across the Academy, we have chosen specific year groups on which to focus where attendance can be strengthened even further. In these chosen year groups and form groups, individual and family rewards are available for those students who improve their attendance or who maintain good attendance.

Years 11 & 13 photographs The school photographer is visiting the school on Monday 13 March 2017 for Years 11 and 13. Both individual and whole year group photographs are taken and the photography company then offers various packages for purchase.

Online Grooming The article below highlights concerns around adults grooming young people online. All students have recently covered work around the dangers of online grooming in school. Although the internet is a fantastic resource for young people in many ways, conversations with your children around internet safety and grooming are very important. If you have any concerns or require any further information, please contact Mr Currie (DSL) in school.

Exam stress and Pressure Online Resources We are aware that the next few months are very demanding for many students as the exam period approaches. Attached are some resources and ideas to support students during this time. We always encourage students to talk to staff in school if they have any concerns around any issue in order that we can ensure that the appropriate support is provided.

New GCSE 9 to 1 grades explained Students taking GCSEs this summer will receive a mixture of number and letter grades. English Language, English Literature and Maths are the first subjects to use the new system. Click here for more information.

English Department- Examination Revision Sessions during the Easter Holidays Years 10 &11

Please find below, details of examination revision sessions that the English Department are running this Easter. Your child will be receiving a letter regarding these revision sessions. If you would like your child to attend, please sign the consent form and ask your child to return the form back to Mrs Buckle in Y6. These sessions will be invaluable in helping your child achieve success in this summer's forthcoming examinations. Monday 3 April- 11Red Pathway 9am-12pm Spotlight on GCSE English Literature Tuesday 4 April 11V Pathway 9am-12pm Spotlight on GCSE English Literature Tuesday 4 April Year 10 students taking the GCSE English Literature examination this summer- 12:30pm-3pm Spotlight on GCSE English Literature Wednesday 5 April The whole of Year 11 9:30am-12pm Spotlight on GCSE English Language Paper 2, 12:30pm-3:00pm Spotlight on GCSE English Language Paper 1 Questions 3 and 4. An AQA examiner will be leading these sessions and they will be extremely useful to help your child reach their full potential in this summer's examinations.

Billy Elliot The Musical

Billy Elliot the Musical is nearly upon us and we are in desperate need of Raffle prizes. If anyone is able to donate any prizes we would be extremely grateful. Tickets for the show are now sold out for Friday 24 March and Saturday 25 March but there are still tickets available for 21, 22 and 23 March. Please do support the students by coming along as both students and staff have worked incredibly hard on what promises to be a fantastic week of performances.
