Datasheet Workplace Embedded Tools BIOS Integrated Tools Workplace Embedded Tools are a set of intelligent tools integrated in the BIOS of a single device. They help to offload the IT department’s daily workload by offering routine functions to keep a device up-to-date. Additional security functionality protects and prevents access to vital business data. Increase Productivity through uninterrupted operation as maintenance tasks are performed on each device without disturbing the user. TCO are kept low as the tools are BIOS integrated and do not require additional software to function properly. Workplace Embedded Tools offer the following features:

■ Auto BIOS Update

BIOS Update from Fujitsu server (license free) BIOS Update from the customer’s own customized servers

■ Easy PC Protection

Auto BIOS Update

During the BIOS Post a device checks for new BIOS versions. The update frequency can be configured. ■ Basic Version (license free)

The latest BIOS Version is automatically downloaded via the Internet from a Fujitsu Server ■ Advanced Version

Customers can define their own server, store the BIOS files and distribute the released BIOS versions automatically

Benefits:

■ Basic Version (license free) Customers without their own administrators can download and update the latest BIOS version automatically via the internet from a Fujitsu Server

■ Advanced Version Customers with their own administrators can release and distribute the selected BIOS versions automatically from their own server

Auto BIOS Update will be configured with Workplace Manager or directly in the BIOS.

Easy PC Protection

During the boot process a device checks whether it’s predefined sever is available. If a device can contact the server and is allowed to boot at a certain time, the device is booted without any BIOS password. In other cases the user has to enter the BIOS password. The administrator can define time intervals where booting a device without BIOS password is allowed.

Benefits:

■ If the company’s network is not accessible (within a predefined time), a password is required to boot the device ■ Anti-Theft function: Stolen devices can’t be booted ■ Unauthorized users can’t boot a device without a password ■ Administrators can lock the devices at specific time intervals

Easy PC Protection can be configured with Workplace Manager.
