LSMW (Legacy System Migration Workbench)

The Legacy System Migration Workbench (LSMW) is a tool recommended by SAP thatyou can use to transfer data once only or periodically from legacy systems into an R/3

System.

Procedure to Upload data Using LSMW

Execute the transaction lsmw.

Click on the execute button

LSMW Workbench Screen

Click on Maintain attributes and execute.

Maintain Object Attributes

In this screen, the object type and import technique are selected. Select Standard Batch/Direct Input

Specify the object and the method for which you want to upload data

Save and back out

Click on Maintain Source Structures and execute

Maintain Source Structure

Click on the create button to create the source structure

In case, there is a header and a detail data, create another source structure.

This will pop-up a screen whether to create the source structure in the same

level or subordinate level.

Specify the name of the sub-ordinate source structure

The source structures will be created as represented in the below screen

Save and back out.

Click on Maintain Source Fields and execute

Maintain Source Fields

Place the cursor on the source structure and click on the create button to

create the source field.

Identify the fields for which the data has to be uploaded.

Specify the field name, field description, field length and field type for the source

field.

Similarly perform the above for all the source fields of the source structure and

the detail structure

Save and Back out

Maintain Structure relations and click on execute

Click on create relationship and create relationship

Click on Maintain field mapping and conversion rules

Place the cursor on the field name that needs to be uploaded and click on the

Button

Choose the appropriate value for the pop-up box.

Similarly, repeat the same for all the fields that need to be uploaded

Save and back out

Click on maintain fixed values, translations

If there is any fixed value for any of the fields it can be maintained here.

Save and back out

Click on specify files

If the fie has to be uploaded from PC, click on legacy data (On the PC) and click

on the create button

Specify the path of the file and its description

Specify the delimiter that is used in the file and the format of the file.

Save and back out

Click on assign files and execute

Place the cursor on the source structure and click on to assign the

file to the source structure
