UNLOCO is actually short for

UNITED NATIONS LOCATION CODE which is defined as:

A geographic coding scheme developed and maintained by United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). UN/LOCODE assigns codes to locations used in trade and transport with functions such as seaports, rail and road terminals, airports, Postal Exchange Office and border crossing points.

Structure of UNLOCO

UNLOCO is Made Up Primarily of 5 Digits:

First Two Letters = Country designation

Second Three Letters = City Designation

Sometimes IATA Codes are Used but Not Always.

So For Instance Chicago, IL= USCHI or

O’Hare International Airport = USORD

Organizations Defi ned

An Organization in Cargowise One can be defined as:

Any entity that Senator International interacts with in any fashion. This includes customers, vendors, carriers, government agencies or sister offices and agents. Organization is often shorted to “Orga”.

Organization Codes are Built in the Following Way:

The First Three Letters of the Second Name

The UNLOCO City Designation of 3 Letters

Terms CTO and Container Yard

CTO = Container Terminal Operator. Sea or Air Terminal

Container Yard – Where empty containers are collected from the carrier. This may be the same as CTO.

Controlling Party = Found in the Organization set up and is used to determine who controls a business segment to facilitate strategic decisions.

Controlling Branch = Used for Sales Purposes. Unimportant.
