Steps 1-13, on Both the controllers -

Steps:

1. Check with sysconfig –a2. aggr status3. vol status4. vfiler status, -a, -r, vfiler run <vfiler_name> vol status5. sysstat –c 10 –x 36. options autosupport.doit starting_NDU7. options snmp.enable off (wait for a minute)8. options autosupport.enable off9. snap create vol0 pre736p5 (creating a snapshot of Vol0)10. snap list vol011. software list12. software update < .exe> -r13. version –b

Now, one controller at a time,

On 02A,

14. cf takeover (monitor 02B, CIFS should reboot; and also check for BIOS firmware, shelf_fw (if any)....they get upgraded)

15. partner16. version –b17. partner….keep monitoring 02B18. cf giveback

On 02B,

19. Login: root; Passwd: M0ving0n 20. aggr status, vol status, vfiler status

21. sysstat –c 10 –x 3 22. vfiler run <vfiler_name>, cifs sessions, cifs homedir 23. cf takeover

Now, Monitor 02A, CIFS should reboot, then back to 02B,

24. partner 25 cf status…….(if anything found wrong…check) 26. partner 27. aggr status, vfiler status, vif status, snapmirror status 28 version 29. partner 30. cf giveback…..if giveback doesnot work, then cfgiveback –f (force giveback) 31. cf status, cf monitor –v 32. rdfile /etc/messages

On 02A, it will ask for the root login and password

ON 02A & 02B, give these commands….and you are done with the upgrade..)

33. aggr status, version, vol status, vfiler status 34. cifs sessions, 35. vifs status, vfiler run <vfiler_name> 36. cf status 37. environment status chassis list-sensors 38. options snmp.enable on 39. options autosupport.enable on 38. options autosupport.support.enable on 39. options autosupport.doit finished_NDU 40. options snapmirror.enable on (only if you disabled it because of CPU Utiliz. )

NOTE:

1. Always check with SnapMirror status – if it says "Idle with restart checkpoint", then you have to snapmirror resume <dest_vol> or update <dest_vol>

2. For motherboard firmware Upgrade–- Do BIOS upgrade – download the required version and put it in /etc$/software

- Do Falsh Cache update also

3. Proceedure to Upgrade the shelf firmware - Priv set advanced Options.autosupport.enable off

Options.autosupport.support.enable offStorage download shelf (and wait for 10 minutes for the shelfs to get upgraded)

Procedure by Srikar:

Find the upgrade attached for the filer with s/n 70002024:  Log into the now.netapp.comgo to support -> myautosupportclick on launch my autosupport enter the serial numberselect the host and click enteryou might get to raw data  or dash board ... try to get to dash boardclick on upgrade advisorselect the version you want to upgrade and it will give you the document
