I am delighted to share with you
some of the photographs above of
sculptures created by our Year 10
learners on what was a very moving
and inspirational Remembrance Day
of learning. This exhibition is currently
being showcased in the main atrium
of our school.
It was wonderful to see so many
Year 9 parents and carers at Parents’
Evening. Thank you to everyone who
shared their feedback with us
following the event. This is vital as we
strive to act upon your comments in
how to improve such events.
Making reports and assessment data
more understandable continues to
be a key area of development for us.
If you were unable to attend the
evening and would like to speak
with someone about your child’s
progress please contact us.
We have recently had a number of
issues linked to behaviour on buses.
Some have involved learners from
Darton College and the Pupil
Referral unit. I am incredibly
disappointed by the negative
press that this may have created
for our school, as generally our
learners behave in a way that is
exemplary. We immediately acted
upon these issues and have been
working very closely with
Stagecoach and the Police. I must
stress that we have a no tolerance
policy for such behaviours and
individual bus bans have been
issued. As ever I am grateful for the
support we continuously receive from
parents and carers, who reiterate our
messages about the expected
standards of behaviour, both at school
and also on the journey to and from
school.
Enjoy your weekend!

Year 9 STEM visit:Last week 15 Year 9 girls travelled to the University of Sheffield to
take part in a series of STEM activities. The purpose of this event was to
inspire and inform students who are interested in STEM subjects to see
what the future holds in terms of Intelligent Mobility and all the jobs
centred around this. The day encompassed everything from
autonomous vehicles to Intelligent Mobility using emerging technologies
to enable the smarter, greener and more efficient movement of people
and goods around the world. The girls took part in a variety of
activities on the day, which were interactive and in addition they
interviewed some of the top local and national business people,
who are associated with this sector of employment.
Darton Voice in the Community:Our Darton Voice learners this week worked alongside Councillor
Linda Burgess and Richard Haigh from Darton West Ward Alliance. They
all planted 1,000 daffodils on Oakwood Square in Kexborough. We
cannot wait until Spring to see the bulbs in bloom!
Anti Bullying Week:Year 11 learner leaders have delivered assemblies all this week on this
year’s Anti Bullying Campaign theme, 'Power for Good'. They linked this
to ‘Tell-Abi’, our DC Anti-Bullying Inbox. Learners also created a
resource that has been used in form time to discuss what the
'Power for Good' means.
