The Course commenced on 3 rd Septem- ber, 2012 after the joining formalities. On 4 th September 2012, the course was formally inaugurated when 155 young Officer Trainees (OTs), stood in the au- ditorium of Dr Marri Channa Reddy Hu- man Resource Development Institute and took an oath to bear true allegiance with the constitution, strive with all hones- ty, integrity and dedication to serve the people of this country. The oath was administered by chief guest, Sri. Shafiquz Zaman, Director General Dr. MCR HRD IAP and Special Chief Secy. to Govt. of A.P. 87 th FC reflects the motto of “unity in diversity” as OTs not only come from 24 different states of country but they also repre- sent 12 different services .This batch of trainees comprises of 70 civil services officers - 28 from IRS (IT), 25 from IRS(C&CE),5 each from IA&AS and IRTS, 2 each from IDAS and IPoS, and one each from ICLS, IRPS and IIS. The course is also attended by 29 IFS, 38 ISS and 18 IES officer trainees. The male to female ratio is close to 3:1 with 108 male OTs and 47 female OTs. The 87th Foundation course has started its journey on the path of knowledge and commitment of service to the nation. On its way, several milestones shall be achieved, previous benchmarks will be surpassed and new horizons would be created. The canvass shall be painted anew with brushes of hitherto hidden yet blossoming talents. All these need to be showcased in vibrant colors with reverberating emotions. The newsletter in your hands is an effort to epitomize the same. We are sure that it will succeed in not only revisiting various academic and non-academic activities of the course but also make each one of us reflect on our participation and performance and inspire us to achieve better and best in times to come. Short Trek to AP Police Academy

A short trek, as a pre-cursor to the main trek of Nilgiri hills, was orga-nized at Andhra Pradesh Police Academy on 9th Sept., 2012. The trek was of approx. 7 kms through a low height hilly terrain. The trek itinerary also includ-ed a brief stop at the picturesque Himayat

Sagar Lake.

Sufi Night

2012.The qawwalis presented by Nazeer Ahmed Khan Warsi and team of “Qawwal Bachchon ka Gharana” created

an ambience of spirituality, love and affection all around. The qawwali kept the OTs mesmerized till 10:30 PM.

After two hectic weeks at MCR HRD came the much-awaited “Sufi Night” on 14th Sept.

Heritage Walk

A heritage walk was organized

for all OTs on 16th Sept., 2012.

The walk started from the sym-

bolic Charminar and ended at

the grand Chowmahalla Palace

of Hyderabad. OTs visited other

historical places on the

“Heritage Trail ”in groups led by

the guides of AP Tourism Depart-

ment

L.M. Singhvi Essay competition

was organized for OTs on 17th

Essay Competition Sept., 2012. The topic was

“There are no Human Rights for

poor in India”. All OTs participat-

ed enthusiastically.

The competition carries a cash prize of Rs.

1000, 750 and 500 for first, second and third

positions respectively.

The annual tradition of celebrating the birth of P Srinivas, an IFS

officer martyred in public service, was extended in the 87th foun-

dation course with enthusiasm on 12th Sept. 2012. Dr. V.K. Bahu-

guna, DG, ICFRE and FRI University was the keynote speaker who

spoke on Importance of Forests and Environment in changing

growth patterns with adaptation and mitigation strategies for cli-

mate change.” Parents of the inspiring officer also graced the

occasion and were felicitated. Dr Shafiquz Zaman, Director Gen-

eral, Dr. MCR HRD IAP presided over the function. Dr. Bahuguna

enlightened the gathering about the latest trends and technologies

in the field. In the end, Escort officer, Ms. Hairatjit Kaur proposed

a vote of thanks to the distinguished guests.

A visit to the State Home on 16th Sept., 2012. The OTs got an opportunity to interact with orphans, aged women, children and were inspired to serve. In the afternoon session, the OTs were taken to “Dialogue in the Dark,” a unique and innovative experience, the only one in India, where all OTs got a chance to experience, though a walk

in the dark, how the visually challenged experience day-to-day life. The programme was co-ordinate by Secretary of the club Mr. Batti lal Meena along with various authorities.

“Rhapsody” Cultural Evening

Adventure Sports Club orga-nized a Rappelling and Rock Climbing for OTs on 15th Sept. 2012 at Maula Ali Hills near Hyderabad. The event was or-ganized in association with Great Hyderabad Adventures Club (GHAC). It provided a thrilling experience for OTs to forego their fears and exposed them to a whole new world of adventure!

A Cross-country run for the Officer Trainees was organized on 22nd Sept. 2012 in KBR Park. The total route length was approx. 7 kms. It was an exciting and exhilarating experiences for all OTs. The run not only checked the fitness level of the OTs but also gave a great opportunity to warm up for the upcoming trek!

The Film and Fine Arts Association organized a vibrant cultural evening “Rhapsody” on 26th Sept. 2012. The evening saw a terrific partici-pation from all OTs and showcased several cul-tural events including mimes, drama, instru-mental, duets, classical dances, standupomedy and contemporary dance performances. A sur-prise dance performance enthralled the audi-ence which enjoyed all the event thoroughly as did the participating OTs!
