Geography:

Darkhan-Uul province is located in the

north of the country.

It lies between the Khangai and Khentii

mountain ranges in the Orkhon and

Selenge’s vast river valleys. In the

32,750 square kilometers of this

province there are many places of great

natural beauty. The province’s territory is

located 700 meters above sea level.

It has a continental climate with

average summertime

temperatures reaching 25 to 30

Celsius and winter temperatures

between minus 10 to 30 degrees

Celsius. It has over 260 sunny

days per year.

History

The Darkhan city was founded on

October 17. 1961, as a second industrial

center to reduce the migration pressure

on the capital Ulan Bator. But Darkhan-

Uul aimag with its four sum was carved

out of the Selenge aimag in 1994.

Darkhan city

76 percent of the population of Darkhan- Uul aimag live in Darkhan city. Darkhan is the second largest city in Mongolia. Darkhan city has 95,500 population. This city is, in fact, not part of Selenge aimag, but an autonomous municipality, Darkhan-Uul. The Russians designed the city in their image and a sizeable Russian community still lives in Darkhan.

Agriculture

Darkhan Uul Aimag is situated in the

agricultural heartland of Mongolia and it is

the major agricultural producer in Mongolia

with rich resources for agricultural

development. This area, located at a low

level of altitude, has a warmer climate than

the rest of the country. In the Kharaa River

basin there are favorable natural climatic

conditions for the cultivation of cereals,

vegetables, and especially potatoes.

This area contains 30,000 hectares of

soil suitable for arable farming and

1287.8 thousand hectares for vegetable

farming. Despite the development of the

urban economy, local people continue to

keep livestock. There are approximately

130,000 head of livestock in the

province.

Infrastructure

Darkhan-Uul Aimag’s infrastructure includespaved roads, an international railway, moderntelecommunication systems and reliableenergy sources. It is well connected by themain railway system to Russia and China witha north-south railroad through Ulaanbaatarand Darkhan City. Recently paved roadsconnect Darkhan to Russia as well asUlaanbaatar, the capital city, and Erdenet, thethird largest city in Mongolia. Internet andsatellite cable TV transmissions and cellphone services are also available.

Industrial

. There is an industrial district in

Darkhan that includes a cement

factory, steel plant and sheepskin-

processing factory. The food production

industry is well developed and is

comprised of a of meat processing

factory, flour mill, and small-scale

producers of bakery

products, confectionery, dairy

products, soft drinks and alcoholic

beverages.

Mineral

The Darkhan-Selenge region, a

comparatively well-studied area of

Mongolia, is known to have rich deposits

of coal, copper, and iron ore despite the

fact that exploration work is not

complete. There are also construction

materials such as limestone, marble,

sand, gravel, and straw.

Tourism

Tourists who visit Darkhan can expect to find fresh air, blue skies, a quiet environment, and plenty of open space to enjoy many outdoor activities, such as hunting and fishing. Places of interest accessible from Darkhan City include Zulzagiin Gol, an area of natural beauty 30km to the east, and AmarbayasgalantKhiid one of the largest and most important monasteries in Mongolia.

Fauna Darkhan-Uul has rich natural resources

and mineral deposits as well as an

abundance of vegetation and wildlife.

There are protected animals such as

fox, deer, elk, wolf, and the sturgeon,

which are registered in the Red Book - a

listing of endangered species in

Mongolia.

Forest occupies 79,02 ha of territory and

wooded forest takes up 96.4% (76 ha) of

this area.

Монгол орны аж үйлдвэрийн томоохон төв Дархан хотын анхны суурийг тухайн үеийн Давхрын төмөр замын өртөө, барилгын түүхий эдийн ордуудыг түшиглэн 1961 оны 10-р сарын 17-ны өдөр тавьсан юм.

УИХ-ын 1994 оны 32 дугаар тогтоолоор Дархан хотыг Дархан-Уул аймаг болгон өөрчилсөн.

Тус хот нь хуучнаар эдийн засгийн харилцан туслалцах зөвлөлийн гишүүн орнууд болох Зөвлөлт Холбоот улс, Болгар, Польш, Унгар, Чехословак, Герман зэрэг улсуудын техник, эдийн засгийн хамтын ажиллагааны тусламжтайгаар байгуулагдсан.Энэ ч утгаараа Дархан хотыг “Найрамдлын хот” хэмээн нэрлэсээр ирсэн.

Газарзүй

Дархан-Уул аймаг нь Монгол орны хойд хэсэгт Хэнтийн нурууны салбар уулсын дунд Хараа голын зүүн хойд хөндийг хамарсан 327,5 мянган га газар нутагтай. Нийт газар нутгийн 70,7 хувь буюу 231,7 мянган га талбайг ХАА-н эдэлбэр газар эзэлдэг.

Тус аймгийн газар нутгийн хэмжээ бага боловч алт, шохойн чулуу, нүүрс, барилгын материалын төрөл бүрийн түүхий эд зэрэг байгалийн баялгийн нөөц ихтэй.

Далайн түвшнээс 707 м өндөрт өргөгдсөн харьцангуй нам дор газарт байрлана. Тус аймгийн нутгаар Хэнтийн нуруунаас эх авч Орхон голд цутгадаг Хараа, Зулзага, Шарын гол, Ерөө, Орхон, Хүйтний, Хавчуун зэрэг голууд урсдаг.

Дархан-Уул аймгийн нийт газар нутгийн 70.7 хувь буюу 231.7 мянган га талбайг ХАА-н эдэлбэр газар эзэлдэг бөгөөд үүний 81.5% буюу 188.5 мянган га газар нь бэлчээр, 3.9% буюу 9.1 мянган га талбай нь хадлан, 13.9% буюу 33.3 мянган га газар нь тариалангийн зориулалттай.

Тус аймаг нь Монгол Улсын газар тариалангийн төв бүсэд оршдог. Нийт 345.3 мянган толгой малтай.

Аймгийн хөдөө аж ахуйн үйлдвэрлэл нь хүн амын мах, махан бүтээгдэхүүний хэрэгцээний 90 орчим хувь, гурилын 100 хувь, төмс, хүнсний ногооны хэрэгцээний 100 хувийг өөрийн үйлдвэрлэлээр бүрэн хангаж байгаа стратегийн чухал ач холбогдол бүхий салбар юм.

Өнөөдөр Дархан-Уул аймагт хүнсний боловсруулах 90 гаруй үйлдвэр, цех үйл ажиллагаа явуулж, тэдгээрт нийтдээ 750 гаруй ажилтан ажиллаж байна.

Аж үйлдвэр

Дархан-Уул аймаг нь анх Монгол Улсын барилгын түүхий эд, материалаар хангах зорилгоор аж үйлдвэрийн бааз хотын статустай байгуулагдсан. Манай аймаг хар төмөрлөгийн үйлдвэр, тоосго, бетон, цементийн болон хүнсний төрөл бүрийн үйлдвэрлэл, мах боловсруулах, ургамлын тос боловсруулах үйлдвэр зэрэг голлох үйлдвэрүүдтэй.

Үүнд: “Дарханы Дулааны Цахилгаан Станц”, “Дархан Төмөрлөгийн Үйлдвэр”, “Дархан Нэхий” компани, “Эрэл цемент” зэрэг томоохон үйлдвэрүүд үйл ажиллагаагаа явуулж байна.

Тухайлбал: Дархан уул, Буурал уул, Мөөл уул / одоогийн Мойлын ам /, Ноѐн Хонгор, Хатан уул, 300 тайчуудыг дарсан домогт газар, Орхон голын хөвөөн дэх Эртний хотын туурь, Зочин хад, Бичигт хад, Дүрс нарс, Харууцтай, Хонгор сумын нутагт байрлах Зулзагын голын амралт, Дардай, Шарын Цагаан нуур гэх мэт байгалийн үзэсгэлэнт болон түүх соѐлын дурсгалт газруудыг нэрлэж болно.
