Silkar Madencilik Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. was established in 1990 to offer its services in natural stone production, trade and installation.

Silkar granite factory was built in Bilecik Industrial Zone in 1994, on a land of 20.000 m2.

With the marble and mosaic factories built in 2001 on a land of 90.000 m2, Silkar reached a marble slab production capacity of 400.000 m2, marble tile production capacity of 150.000 m2 and mosaic production capacity of 100.000 m2 annually. Finally, after the establishment of the mosaic factory in China in 2008, Silkar has become one of the few enterprises in the world which engages in the production of marble and mosaic all at the same time.

With its quarries in Sivas, Bursa and Balıkesir, Silkar is one of the major natural stone companies in Turkey. Dark Olive (operating since 2005) is the quarry in the province of Sivas, Cafe Latte Dark is the quarry in Bursa region. Finally, the newest quarry Vega Light has started to operate in 2019 in Balıkesir and Astra White in Greece.

The mosaic production facility, in operation since 2008 in China, is focused on the production of labor-intensive mosaic models to achieve the highest cost effi ciency without comprimising the quality.

In 1994, Silkar took a major step, by branding all of its products as “AKDO” and entered the North American market. Developing new products by closely following the trends in the U.S., Silkar gained a new perspective in producing mosaics for other foreign markets as well.

The company has EN ISO 9001 Quality Management System, EN ISO 14001 Environmental Managemment System and ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management System Certifi cations.

With its ability to produce marble and mosaics all together, Silkar continues to lead the natural stone sector with its strong international network and its brand “AKDO”.
