You only have one life, but how many chances

do you have to fulfill your dreams? Dream crazy,

dream wild, dream those dreams even if people

think you are insane. Those dreams may make

you fall, and fall hard. But if birds can f ly, you

can too. As long as you dare to dream.

Create a book design and a set of swatch cards for

Mohawk paper company using one of their paper

selection — via.

C O N C E P T

The first dimension is the line, the second dimen-

sion is the plane, the third dimension is the solid,

and the fourth dimension is space plus time. This

is the universe we live in, but what about beyond

this? For most of us, or maybe all of us, it’s impos-

sible to imagine a world consisting of more than

three dimensions. Are we correct when we intuit

that such a world couldn’t exist? Or is it that we

are simply cannot imagine extra dimensions? Let

via bring you to the journey from dimension one

to dimension eleven. Bon voyage!

Create a campaign series which includes three

posters, web pages, and a video for a non-profit

organization — marriage equality usa.

This project received Third Place in aiga sf

cause/affect competition.

C O N C E P T

Marriage is a basic human right and a personal

choice, marriage equality usa calls upon the

state and federal government to allow all couples,

regardless of sexual orientation, sex identity, or

gender identity, access to civil marriage with all

the state and federal rights, responsibilities, duties,

and protections that civil marriage includes.

In this campaign series, instead of using the

famous rainbow colors to represent gay rights, we

use American founding fathers’ quotes to demon-

strate that the idea of justice, liberty, and equality

are the basic rights for all human beings. The

whole meaning of ‘ founding fathers all hiding’ is

that they are ashamed that what they have said

but cannot be achieved by people yet.

Dreams are a sequence of perceptions, emotions

images, and ideas that occur spontaneously in the

brain during certain phases of sleep. Dreams are

related to the human subconscious, and they can

range from ordinary to weird, and surreal.

But do you really know the representations of

your dreams? In dream factory, you are going to

experience the wildest, craziest, and the most

vibrant dreams ever. Also, you will get to learn

the secret meanings of your deepest dreams.

Develop a conceptual store — gravity?

C O N C E P T

With the concept ‘Defying Gravity,’ people can

rethink the possibilities and enjoy the unique anti-

gravity experience while entering the gravity?

salon and lounge. We want to convey the message

that there are plenty of ‘What ifs...’ in life, so peo-

ple are allowed to have a wide range of fantasies

in everyday life. So gravity? wants to ask you:

What if we live in a world without gravity, what

will it happen?

Design a series of three posters for a medical

conference — placebo effect.

C O N C E P T

Belief is powerful medicine, even if the therapy

is fake. A placebo is a substance or other kind of

treatment that looks like a normal medicine or

treatment. The patients who are taking placebos

do not know that the treatments are shams. A

placebo can be a sugar pill, an injection, a liquid,

a procedure, or any other type of therapy. Place-

bos have helped ease pain, depression, anxiety,

Parkinson’s disease, and even cancer.

The three posters are designed to be upside down,

which demonstrate the idea of how placebos work

within patients’ conditioning and expectation.

An expectation is a belief that focuses on the

future, and may or may not be practical. The

results could generate the emotion of disappoint-

ment. People become to adapt to favorable or

unfavorable life experiences, which may lead to

positive or negative expectations of their life.

This is a book, which shows a person’s journey

from high expectations to high disappointments.

You will open this book with expectations and

close it with reality.

What is music like when you can’t hear it?

Within the deaf and hard of hearing world, there

are people not only creating music, but people

who love and make music a part of their lives. We

cherish eyes, hands, motion, and rhythm. These

things are not only the basic elements of our daily

language, but also the art in deaf culture.

In this book you are going to experience the

contrast between silence and noise, and you will

learn how hearing-impaired people experience

music, vibration, motion, and rhythm through

their eyes and hands.

Design a culture.

Taoism was one of the most valuable philoso-

phies in ancient China, and Lao Tzu was one of

the most important philosophers of Taoism. Lao

Tzu believed in the concept of ‘Wu Wei,’ which

was very complicated and communicates multiple

meanings. It could mean doing nothing, creating

nothingness, not forcing, not acting, acting spon-

taneously, and going with the f low.

Outer alchemy was a tradition of Taoism, which

using different kinds of minerals such as cinnabar,

lead, mercury, and sulfur to create medicines and

elixirs. Taking medicines and elixirs might cause

physical changes within the body, and separation

from the soul.

The two posters exhibit the relationship between

Chinese ancient Taoism and modern western

culture. Here, you are able to transcend time, and

get to know two different cultures in different

periods of time.

canon’s corporate philosophy is boiled down

to the word ‘Kyosei,’ meaning living and working

together for the common good. This philosophy

supports everything that Canon does, from deve-

loping sustainable production methods to offering

consumers more choice.

The original canon name and logo were created

to communicate the company’s global perspectives.

With the evolution of time and technology, the

new canon not only keeps the corporate heritage,

but also expands the spirit of canon to capture,

enhance, and express people’s everyday lives. The

world we live in, the communities we serve, and

the lives we embrace are all the treasures of life.

canon believes that ‘every moment, you live’ is

for a great reason./

FA M I LY

My family is the most fantastic thing that has

happened in my life. Without you, my life would

not be as complete.

To my parents, who support me always, and let

me become a person that I can be proud of.

FAC U LT Y

Mary Scott, Roland Young, Ariel Grey, Jenny

Ji, Thomas McNulty, Megumi Kiyama, Michael

Osborne, Sami Saaud, Scott Rankin, Anitra

Nottingham, and Darrell Hayden. You all are my

greatest inspirations in my design education.

F R I E N D S

To all of my friends, who have accompanied me

through this journey of my life.

OT H E R S

Thanks to all the amazing stuff that has made

my life so colorful.
