INTERMODAL LINKS
By road
By rail (Tanzania Railways Limited) The TRC Line is 1,255 kilometers long. It goes up to the shores of Lake Tanganyika linking Dar es Salaam port not only with Western Tanzania but also with Bukavu in Zaire and Burundi. The line branches at Tabora and goes to Mwanza on Lake Victoria to link the port with Uganda and Western Kenya.
A second gauge is run by Tanzania Zambia railways Authority (TAZARA) and meets at two points with the TRC lline. The first meeting point is at Dar es Salaam port and the second is at Kidatu, some 300 kilometers from Dar es Salaam. (TICTS website)
