Why CANADA?Canada has one of the strongest economies in the Western world and was listed as the second most attractive country worldwide for business by Bloomberg in their 2014 country report.

A number of factors make Canada attractive as a business destination:

◌ One of the highest GDP per capita in the world (USD 43,146 PPP)

◌ Annual GDP growth of app. 2.5%

◌ Population of 36 million, up by 1.1 million every third year

◌ Solid banking sector

◌ Investor-friendly and business-friendly environments

◌ Significant natural resource industry driving the economy

◌ High consumer receptivity

◌ UK Common Law-inspired legislation (If you are comfortable exporting to the UK then you will be comfortable exporting to Canada).

Canada and EU have recently reached political agreement on the key elements of a free-trade agree-ment. The agreement will eliminate 99% of all tariffs and will create sizeable new market access op-portunities in service and investments. The total EU exports to Canada are estimated to go up by more than 20% over the next few years.

Guaranteed company exposureThe Embassy of Denmark in Ottawa and the Consulate General in Toronto will invite relevant Canadi-an stakeholders and your key contacts to official business seminars, a business lunch and to network-ing activities. Significant media coverage is also expected.

TENTATIVE PROGRAMWith specific focus on: Food and BeverageDue to a rise in disposable income, the food and beverage sector is showing great strengths both in retail, processing and food-services. Toronto boasts one of the highest per capita rates of restaurants in North America, and the food service sales growth is expected to reach 4.7% in 2014. Yearly retail growth rates have been between 2 and 3% over the last 5 years and is expected to continue at 2.3% annually until 2018. The upcoming EU-Canada free trade agreement is expected to make a significant dif-ference for Danish food companies wishing to compete in the Canadian market.
