Dear Friends, I want to take this time to introduce myself as your new Assemblymember for the 27th District. The last few weeks have been a whirlwind of excitement and hard work. I am truly humbled to be of service in a community as active and vibrant as ours. It has been my top priority since taking office to ensure that you continue to receive the best services the state has to offer. My staff stands ready to help with all constituent issues, including navi- gating city and state agency requests and applying for essential services. In the past few weeks, I have had the pleasure of visiting community groups, senior centers, civic organizations, and schools throughout our District. The input I receive is essential to keeping the 27th Assembly District the best com- munity to live and work in. I look for- ward to continuing to travel across the District and hearing directly from you. I wish you all a great holiday season and a wonderful new year! New Tax Break for Seniors and New Yorkers with Disabilities

Thanks to recent changes in city and state law, homeowners with an annual combined household income of $58,399 or less are now eligible to receive the Senior Citizens Homeowner’s Exemption (SCHE) or Disabled Homeowner’s Exemption (DHE). This program can potentially save you hundreds of dollars on property taxes this year.

Assemblymember Rosenthal spoke to Community Board 8 at its November meeting about several quality of life issues affecting Briarwood, Kew Gardens Hills, Pomonok, and Electchester. Subsequent to the meeting, Rosenthal wrote several letters to the NYC Department of Transportation to request traffic solutions to issues raised at the meeting.

Assemblymember Rosenthal visited P.S. 99 to discuss the excellent community and educational programming offered to children and families in Kew Gardens.

Civic Visit: College Point Civic and Taxpayers Association

Assemblymember Rosenthal was the Guest Speaker for CPCTA’s November membership meeting. He spoke about upcoming events, new homeowner tax exemption programs, and quality of life issues in College Point such as the Linden Place Extension and fighting for long-needed repairs to MacNeil Park.

Crystal Windows is a true success story we are proud to have in College Point. As a rapidly growing MWBE, Crystal continues to provide great jobs to Queens residents while using American made products to keep our manufacturing industry competitive. Rosenthal met with Chief Operating Officer, Steve Chen (pictured left).

Assemblymember Rosenthal joined his neighbors in College Point for their Annual Tree Lighting at the Poppenhusen Monument. Rosenthal is pictured with Joe Fe-menia, head of the College Point Civic and Taxpayers Association.

Assemblymember Rosenthal joined neighbors for lunch at the Kew Gardens Senior Center. The center is home to a wide array of programming and great food, thanks to the amazing work of Queens Community House and its dedicated members!

Thanks to the wonderful volunteers from KaBoom! and the Pomonok Tenants Association, the Pomonok community has a brand new playground for our families. As KaBoom’s mission statement reminds us, PLAY MATTERS!
