The Statesman-Prophet
St. Mina Coptic Church Hamilton, ON
A prophet occupied with administration; knew how not to mix his administrative duties with his prophetic spiritual work. His position did not make him lose his heavenly vision and his concern for the salvation of his soul, that of the people and the kings with whom he dealt
His high position did not prevent him from witnessing to the true God and from keeping His commandments, doing so with a spirit of wisdom, love and courage
Served his people, not with the spirit of fanaticism, but with the spirit of holiness, humility, and love to all people
Supported them in the land of captivity where he found grace in the eyes of the kings, also opened the doors of hope before the captive people and all the Gentiles.
God granted him the gift of seeing the future Father of the history of the Gentiles; recorded
many precise prophecies about the kingdoms which follow one another, through God’s plan
His book is the only book in the Old Testament which prophesies in detail about kings and kingdoms, which he declares by name such as Persia and Greece
Prophet of dreams and visions, who enjoyed a divine gift, a heavenly wisdom, and a surpassing understanding; prophet who revealed the times for the events of salvation, the end of the world, and was occupied with the Gentiles

Daniel the prophet, born in Jerusalem and was captive to Babylon, a young boy, 606 years BC
Of the tribe of Judah (1: 6), if not of the royal house of the descendants of David (1: 3)

God gave him His blessing in the days of the three kingdoms of Babylon, Maddy, and Persia, in the service of the kings of the pagans
Remained faithful to God, did not eat the delicacies of the king offered to idols, and was courageous in the interpretation of visions and dreams without fear of kings

THE BOOK OF DANIEL AND THE BOOK OF REVELATION
the angel accompanied them to explain the visions (Da 7:16; 8:16; 9:22)
both used the title "Son of Man" (Da 7:13; 14 Rev 1:13; 2:14 p.m.)
Daniel was called by the angel, "a man beloved" three times (Da 9:23; 10:11, 19) also St. John the Beloved was called the"disciple whom Jesus loved" five times (John 19:26; 20: 2; 21: 7, 20)
Book of Daniel, a prisoner wrote his vision of St. John in exile (Rev. 1: 9)
Daniel shows the predominance of the Kingdom of Christ on the four empires. Revelation is the book where the Church, in the world, is looking forward to the coming of the victorious Christ.
In both books, God reveals and opens some secrets. He reveals His secrets to those who fear him, but some things remain sealed (Rev 5; 10: 4; Da 12: 4)
Both books described the throne of God and around the throne myriads of myriads and thousands and thousands of angels (Da 7: 9.10 Rev 4: 2.9; 5:11)
Both books talked about the period of three and a half years or 1,260 days) (Rev. 11: 3.12: 16; Da 7:25, 12: 7)
Devil portrayed as dragon, raised to the earth (Rev. 12: 4) similar to that mentioned in Daniel (Da 8:10)
Both books talk identically about the antichrist, and similarly in describing the Day of Judgement (Rev. 20:12; Da 7:10)
"But as for you, Daniel, conceal these words and seal up the book until the end of time; many will go back and forth, and knowledge will increase."
