What are the obvious thoughts that this passage is conveying? What are the “Aha” thoughts that the Holy Spirit brought to you as you consider the passage? What questions come to mind? How do you respond to the God they show you? Bring your observations and questions to your Small Group this week! ————————— GROUP QUESTIONS = 1. 3:1-7 Can someone summarize this scene? 2. At the end of Ch. 2, Nebuchadnezzar was prostrate before Daniel, honoring God. What might explain where he is at in 3:1? 3. Would you agree that our world does not encourage us to believe in God? What are ways this is true in your life? 4. 3:8-15 The antagonism gets worse - can someone summarize what is happening here? Why might the other wise men have done this? 5. Often our world will either seduce us to join or attack us for standing out. Are there ways you see this in our world today? How do live in the world, but not of the world, while remaining for the world when it is like this? 6. 3:16-18 Look closely at the response of the 3 young men to the king. In what ways are they models of “having faith to worship God alone?” (Make 5 observations) 7. 3:19-30 What does Nebuchadnezzar do in response to the boy’s refusal to worship his image? 8. What happened when the young men fell into the furnace? What do we learn about God from this? 9. The young men WERE thrown into the furnace and, for all they knew, were going to die. Were they prepared to die? How do you know? What helped them obey God and leave the results in His hands? 10. Honoring God can mean facing danger in this world. In some cases (like here) God delivers us FROM evil. In other cases, God delivers us THROUGH evil. Can you think of examples of each from the Bible? What do you think about that? 11. How does this passage end? Has the place of the young men changed or remained the same? Has the King changed? Do we learn anything about living for God in the world from this? 12. Summary: These young men are a picture of what God can do in His people when they have faith to worship Him alone. How are you most helped by Daniel 3?
