New start-ups from this team ”Doing what and why?”
THE CHALLENGE WE HAVE IN AFRICA:
• 700 million people in Africa alone live without electricity
• The villages are not reached by electric grids due to long distances
• Family of 5 persons burns 4000 kg of wood per year and produces 6400 kg of CO2 per year
• Gathering wood for the family is work intensive and takes many hours in a day
• Significant health problem from burning wood
• Refugee flood to Europe due to drought and desertification
• Also, in cities within electricity network, the problem is a continuous power outage, averaging 8 hours per day

OUR SOLUTION TO THE CHALLENGE:
• The Afstor solar cooker produces energy for cooking, lighting and telecommunication
• Provides learning opportunities for children and young people
• Reduces CO2 emissions (in 5 years, equal to 250000 km car driving)
• The cooker counts energy usage to measure CO2 compensation
• Each cooker has its own tracking page where the donor or the device purchaser can track the amount of usage and get compensation for emissions trading.
• Cooker includes two solar cells, a battery and induction cooker
