I began by trying to find a solution using simple switches:

“Multi-switches” have to be custom-built: they don’t seem to be available in the market

“Multi-switches” have to be built precisely to operate reliably: all contacts have to be made exactly

They are an electromechanical solution for our design requirements

We also looked for an electronic solution: a “multi-switch” that is not mechanical – a LOGIC GATE
