SIGN UP FOR 4-H NOW! Go to 4honline.com. If you have questions, please call us and we can help you! Beginning November 1, you will receive no
more emails or correspondence from us if you have not signed up. The enrollment
fee also goes up to $25.00 on November 1. All members who enroll on 4-H
Connect will receive a membership card!
LIVESTOCK EXHIBITORS: All 4-Hers who plan to show at the Bi-County
Stock Show must be enrolled in 4-H by December 1, 2014. 4-Hers also need to
be signed up for the Bi-County show by 12-1-2014 and entry fee(s) paid.
Bi-County entries for the Steer & Heifer Show will be taken during the
month of November at the Extension Office. Please come by our office anytime
during November and fill out a Bi-County entry card for your steers and heifers.
The fee is $15.00 per entry and entries are due DECEMBER 1. Entries for the
other species will be taken during validation.

RECORDBOOK TRAINING—DATE
CHANGED TO November 18
On Tuesday, November 18th, Shawnte Clawson, District 1 4-H Special-
ist will be conducting the training. See the following schedule!
5:30-6:30pm—Training for all junior and
intermediate 4-H members who
have NEVER filled out a recordbook
6:30pm—Introduction on recordbooks
followed by 3 breakout sessions—junior, intermediate
and senior. We will be splitting the age groups and going over
recordbooks in each age category.
WEDNESDAY, November 19th
Schedule an individual appointment with Shawnte anytime between
8:30am—1:30pm. Shawnte will meet with you to go over your 4-Hers
recordbook at our office in Dalhart.

All Stock Show exhibitors must
have a Quality Counts number.
If you are a first time livestock
exhibitor or are a new “senior”
4-Her, you must retake the
test. When you complete the
test, please print out a copy of
the certificate and put it in
your show box. Shelby has ac-
cess to your number and does
not need a copy of your certifi-
cate. Please call Shelby if you
need more information.
Major Stock Show Entry Day
November 4 & 10
9-5pm
“Major Stock Show Entry Days” will
be on Tuesday, November 4 for Ft.
Worth Livestock Show and the
Odessa Show. November 10 is entry
day for all other major shows (San
Angelo, San Antonio, Houston, and
Austin). November 4th is the abso-
lute last date to enter the Ft. Worth
Livestock Show as they will not ac-
cept late entries. Other major shows
charge significant late fees. Hours
for “Major Stock Show Entry Days”
are from 9am to 5pm at the Exten-
sion office. This is for all 4-Hers
attending major livestock shows in
2015 to complete their paperwork and
pay entry fees. You may come to the
office prior to this date to fill out
paperwork in advance if you prefer.

Dallam & Hartley County 4-H Yearbooks are now available for the 2014-2015 year. They contain
lots of great information for your upcoming 4-H year. Please stop by the office for a hard copy.

The 2014 Texas 4-H Opportunity
Scholarship Application is now avail-
able at: http://texas4-h.tamu.edu/
scholarships. Texas 4-H Opportunity
scholarship can be applied for by any
high school senior who has been an
active Texas 4-H member for the
past three of four years, a Texas
resident, and a US citizen. Applicants
must be planning on attending a Texas
College or University to be consid-
ered for a scholarship.

In addition . . .
Hartley County 4-Hers who re-
ceive the “Gold Star” award receive a
$500.00 scholarship from the Hart-
ley County Parent Leader Association.
Dallam County 4-Hers who will be
graduating in May, 2015 are eligible
to apply for the $2,500.00 Dallam Co.
4-H Scholarship. Applications can be
picked up at the Extension Office in
January.

Conference.

There will be a variety of 4-H topics including club manage-
ment, leadership, project trainings, and youth/adult
opportunities.
The Fundamentals of money manage-
ment project has started. If you are
interested in another 4-H project, we
have a workbook that you can pick up
and work on the project yourself—
Call the Extension Office and set up a
meeting with Kay & Hattie Bezner and
they can outline the project complete
with community service projects.
Hattie will be sending out an activity,
monthly, to workshop attendees.
PECANS ARRIVING mid-NOVEMBER
Watch for an email! Pecans should be
delivered sometime in mid-November.
We will send out an email when the
pecans arrive. You will be responsible
for picking up your pecans and deliv-
ering them to the customers who pur-
chased them from you. Pecans need
to be delivered to your customers
before Thanksgiving.

ASSOCIATION
Membership in the Texas Friends and
Alumnae Association makes a differ-
ence! Your membership, combined
with other supporters, assists the
association to award grants, colle-
giate scholarships and financial sup-
port to 4-Hers to attend leadership
events. A portion of membership
fees will be donated back to the club
and/or county of your choice SO

meet on Nov. 13 to put those to-

Dallam Darlins 4-H Club
4-H for Families and
Friends 4-H Club
The next meeting of the Family &
Friends 4-H Club will be on Tuesday
November 11th at 7 pm at the Rita
Blanca Coliseum. Please bring along
your items for the food drive. Our
pledges and prayer will be lead by
Taeler Sorrels, Kullen Sorrels and
Kesleah Shields. The Reagan Family
is supplying drinks and the Hampton
Family snacks. We will have 3 great
presentations by Kullen Sorrels,
Taeler Sorrels, and The Floyds.
Entrepreneurship Project – we are
looking for youth interested in joining
our Entrepreneurship Project. With
Angela Daniels and members of the
Concession Stand Committee of the
Dallam PLA, we will guide youth
through marketing, sales and skills
needed to be a business owner. Our
real-life project will be the planning
and execution of the concession stand
at the upcoming stock show in Janu-
ary. Please call the 4-H office by
November 6th. We will meet weekly
after school beginning the 2nd week
of November at a time to be deter-
mined by the members joining the
project.

For community service, we will meet
at “The Legacy” on
Tuesday, November 11th
at 3:45 pm to help the residents pack
their boxes for Operation Christmas
Child. If you are unable to help on
that day, you can bring items for the
boxes to the club meeting on Nov. 6.
There will be a list of acceptable and
unacceptable items in your meeting
reminder email. Be watching!
