ABOUT THE SCHOOL Dalian American International School (DAIS) opened its doors in 2006 with eleven students in grades K‐8. Today, DAIS serves over 440 students from 27 nationalities in grades Pre‐ kindergarten through Grade 12. Rigorous academic courses combined with a comprehensive extra‐curricular program focus on the development of the whole child. The school currently has 68 faculty members from nine nationalities, of which 91% are overseas hires and 9% are local hires. Nearly two‐thirds of our teachers hold master’s degrees. Financial resources are available to support personal and institution‐wide professional development and teachers are committed to professional growth, research‐based best practice, and a collaborative focus on student learning. As a school managed by International Schools Services, excellence is a standard, an expectation, and a state of mind. Our commitment to excellence was affirmed when three accreditation agencies – Council of International Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges, and the National Center for School Curriculum and Textbook Development – each granted accreditation in June 2011.
